Just a little something to help pass the time.
Thank you! Watched it with my 6yo grandson, a big car lover!!
Why? its a dying company. People laugh when they hear Wrangler and talk about screens flashing off and on. You are in a bubble here...

Wrangler is iconic in looks, and fun offroad so it gets passes from the faithful. The rest of the lineup is very problematic and the reliability/repair cost are off the charts. IT was looking like they might go under, but they have a good seller in new jl, but that may not be enough
i don’t know, Gary. Got any stats to share? Car companies go up and down. The jl is such a hit it can revive and invigorate the company.

Looking at the site that shall not be named... JLUs were/are shipping in a week or less of hitting KZ to my location.[/QUOTE
What is this site? You can't name it? Just curious! :)

I can’t make reason of the timing of the orders...same as many have noted. Best of luck to all!

Never heard the flat spot reason/theory..I doubt that theory...

Have heard and believe, that the over-inflation is lets call it, is a by product of the process of seating the tire bead on the new rim during the tire mounting process. They need that increased psi to pop the bead and after the process, they never re-adjust tire psi.

.
I have heard the flat spot theory from a mechanic that works the rail/truck transload yard here in Winnipeg. He said that vehicles are tied down extremely tightly on the rail cars to minimize the risk of movement and damage in transit. The added load from the tie downs could otherwise flat spot the tires. He also added that it is not unheard of for the tie downs to be too tight to the point that unloaded vehicles have been found with bent rims.

I am sooooo confused. We got JL's coming and going. PST and hardtops.
Very late orders filled but our friends that ordered very early no JL. I am happy for all of you getting your new rides. :like: Now go pick them up and get out of the way so very early orders can be filled. I am pissed at Jeep for how they DO NOT build the early orders. Jeep why the Hell do you think we ordered early !!! Dec.and Jan. we would have been better off to order in March. Nothing makes sense. What is the secret to this build !! :punch:
Good NEWS!: I am pretty sure that the 5 Year Plan they are anouncing tomorrow is all about getting the early orders out! They will clearly lay out how and when each vehicle will be built and shipped. Plus, it is rumored that all early orders that are un-fulfilled, will receive a complimentary T-shirt with the Fiat emblem on it.

Bad NEWS: In most cases, it will take 5 years.

It's been exactly one week since I picked up my JL so I figure it's my turn to add my voice to driving impressions. Unless otherwise noted, all comparisons are against my just replaced 2010 2dr JKR

Good:
  • Ride is significantly improved with near car like smoothness on pavement and much less skittishness over bumps.
  • 8spd transmission is vastly superior to my old 4spd with very smooth shifts and the ability to keep the engine at its most efficient output.
  • The 3.6L is new to me with 40% more power and this results in greatly increased responsiveness.
  • The Alpine infotainment system is the best factory system I've encountered. It's significantly better than the premium Bose system in my 2016 Vette. Sound is superior, the touch screen apps are much more responsive and Bluetooth is faultless. Hands free phone sound quality is the best I have experienced. There does remain room for improvement in the interface, which I find cluttered.
  • Fuel economy is greatly improved in real world driving conditions. I got 17 mpg out of my first tank in all city driving compared to the 12 mpg I used to average.
  • The digital instrument cluster is a significant improvement with much more available information.
  • LED lights are a massive improvement for nighttime visibility. Highly recommended.
  • Even though they are very unJeeplike, I'm loving all of the new creature comforts - dual zone climate control, leather heated seats and steering wheel, power mirrors etc.
  • Blind and cross side detection works as advertised and is a significant asset for me in city driving.
Neutral
  • I don't find a significant improvement in braking even with larger calipers and rotors. Braking distance may be a little shorter but brakes still have the feel of plunging your foot into a pail of jam.
  • There's been no change to the overly conservative fuel gauge. Gauge was hovering over E and the remaining range was reported as 13 miles when I filled up. Took 14 gallons, meaning there were still 4 gallons in the tank. In other words, it reads empty on a near 1/4 tankful; same as the JK.
  • Steering seems pretty much the same and is fine for an off-road vehicle. Vehicle tracks straight with hands off the wheel as long as there is no significant wind. As with the JK, it's extremely susceptible to cross winds. Larger steering inputs are required compared to a car, but I did not find any significant play in the movement.
  • ESS is not as intrusive as I thought. After a week, I'm used to it and have yet to feel the need to disengage it. I do think it contributes to the improved fuel economy I am realizing. I am rating it neutral for now as I still have concerns about long term reliability.
  • Wind noise on this hard top is no worse than my JKR hardtop and may be slightly better.
Bad
  • Proximity keyless entry is poorly executed in that it does not automatically lock on exit. Coming home from the grocery store laden with grocery bags and I still have to futz with the fob or try and press the small button on the handle. I have no idea why they left out locking since I've not seen this with any other vehicle that uses proximity fobs.
  • The voice system tells me to press the disconnect button to hang up with every....damn....call! I get it already!!

Ordered 5/1/18: 2018 JL Rubicon 2 Door
20 two door Wranglers within 150 miles of Raleigh. My dealor, Tri City has one in transit but not mine. The 20 is up from 17 two days ago. Interesting how the 2 Big Raleigh Dealors are NOT on the list of 20.
TriCity's 2 door is mine :) should be delivered in a couple weeks

I'll be taking a nice drive back down to FL once it comes in. Any recommendations on places to stop through South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida?

in my area Hardeeville SC/Savannah GA there are 8 up from 4. One of the sport has premium soft top (per sticker). Unfortunately none with headliners yet.

I have two identical orders. Both with "Build Priority: 99".

But the order that seems to be moving has a "Scheduling Priority: 1-Sold Order". This one has an order date of 3/31/2018.

My other order which is not moving and still in D has an order date of 1/17/2018 and has a "Scheduling Priority: 2-Fastest Moving Vehicle Order".

My guess is that they are doing "Scheduling Priority: 1-Sold Order" units 1st.

The above information is on the Priced Order Confirmations (POC)s.
I feel for the older orders not moving. I had a bad feeling after a few weeks about my 1st order and after reading this forum, reached out to another dealership and place another order. It's my 2nd order that is moving per the above.
I've been riding my '97 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster to work as my family is short a vehicle. Was a cold and rainy Spring in MN, but can't complain for obvious reasons.
If I had only my original order above, I would be buying a 2-door JK now instead of waiting. Plenty of them around here. Very Happy to have a JL on its way!

A handshake held the rig from December 2017 until I picked it up yesterday evening (5/30). When I left it had a full tank of gas. That was special considering the interest in the 2 doors, and while I was at the Dealership others had noticed that it had been moved from "in transit" to "arrived" and were calling. I'm not being paid here, just got really good service with Scott at Roberson who took my initial order and saw it all the way through to delivery with very helpful one on one instruction on how to use the "radio". With the right people in the right place handshakes still mean a lot. My final ask was for Scott to join me in this picture, he is on the right.

It is more Jeep than I could have ever imagined. It had spunk on the road and manners in the hills. Taking it off road on a 5 mile gravel cross country jaunt between the Trask and Wilson Rivers (about 1,500' vertical) it drove really nice, different than a 1/2 ton, but it is supposed to. For those who are waiting, it is worth it. If you are in Tillamook, Oregon it will probably be visiting the Jeep Jamboree at the Fairgrounds June 7-9th.

By the way, my wife now says she likes the Jeep.
