One person writes on the internet , that the uncles cousins sisters roommate heard from the janitor at the plant that the hard tops aren't going on right , and everyone just believes it. I don't believe what I read in the NY times anymore let alone from some stranger on the net!
exactly! that’s why i’m trying to explain to people that it’s because the toledo plant is haunted, keeps scaring people away from their 2 door production shifts

Katilyn @ Jeep Chat states “parts shortages” has led to the 2 door JL delays, not haunted production lines. Early to Mid April start....Time will tell. Coming up on 100 day anniversary since order date, maybe throw in a pair of floor mats or air freshener Jeep?

Maybe Jeep should buy all their parts--"MADE IN AMERICA" to speed things up! (parts boat stuck in Panama Canal)

these things are expensive enough without doing that lol

The JK had a very high percentage of USA parts. Did they go significantly more foreign this time? I heard about the engines moving to mexico (great..), but nothing else.

I am just speaking about parts holdup. Since that's their excuse.

for real - they should give the december and january preorders something for our patience, even if it’s just a hoodie or hat. the gesture would be appreciated and might restore some positive vibes.

To be fair it also was not during the initial release year of that model which was released in 1997. In 5 years if you put a new order on a JL in I bet it will be just as quick as your 2002 TJ.

You do have a point there, but this two door delay shouldn't be happening.

Sorry it is happening and not only to 2 doors. Most everybody is dealing with delays that stem from the shortage of soft tops. Even if you did not order one, this has a trickle down effect.

We are all feeling the pain unfortunately. :(

It would be nice if Jeep would issue an official statement on exactly what the problem is and keep us updated on when the 2 door build will begin. That would be the right thing to do!
Jeep Cares emailed me. 2 door build starts mid April.

They said that about 2-weeks ago. All we all want is the TRUTH from Jeep. Come on is that really that hard to do Jeep?
All we have is BS and rumors. "Jeep Cares" does not exist. I shall wait but we all want the truth.

Dear Clifton: 3-10-18

Thank you for your reply!

According to our provided resources, production of the 2018 Jeep
Wrangler JL 2-Door is scheduled to begin in early to mid-April 2018.
Please keep in mind as this timing is projected, it is subject to
change.

Our best suggestion would be for you to continue to work with your
preferred Jeep dealership. Your preferred Jeep dealership is the best
resource to keep you up-to-date on the progress of your vehicle order.

If you have any further product questions about the current Jeep lineup,
you are always welcome to reply back to this email and I will respond
back to you as promptly as I can. If you prefer, you can also reach us
directly with your questions at the Jeep Product Information Center by
calling 1-877-426-5337. When you call, we can connect you directly to
your local dealership, providing your call is during the dealer's hours
of operation.

Thank you again for choosing Jeep, Clifton! Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Erin

Thats their current estimate, why jump to lies?

New product rolls outs these days are complicated, with many suppliers that also can have product/volume issues. A huge Feb wrangler sales volume occurred, not too surprising a new popular model is having trouble keeping up with early demand.

I wish I could buy one now too, but I know its gonna be more like june no matter how much I want it sooner.

Estimates are Estimates, I am glad to let them workout problems on early adopter units

Its about profit. The demand for 4 doors must be so high that it doesn't make good business sense to slow 4 door production and produce 2 doors yet. FCA has smart people projecting and crunching numbers to maximize their bottom line.
I'm repeating myself, but I don't think that's the case. There's no reason to believe that the profit margin on 2 drs is any less that 4drs and the relative demand for 2drs no doubt exceeds 4drs by now for the simple reason that none have been made since JL production started 5 months ago. I laid this out in more detail here if you want to read it:

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ssions-master-thread.2951/page-66#post-114117

As I say there, the delay is most likely the result of risk management. This is particularly the case if the rumours are true that 2.0l engine production and 2dr production will start at the same time. There is only one assembly line for JL’s so any quality issue due to new products puts the entire production at risk. Better to wait and ensure that all quality issues have been dealt with and manage both these risks at once, rather than have two separate introductions with two points of impact to production.
