You & Fred are making me nostalgic. Reached out to my dealer for first time for an update on February 13, having ordered Dec. 13, 2017. The factory reps reply....”any day now” regarding 2 door start ups. That’s something I tell my 2 year old grandson, stalling him until he finishes his veggies. And patiently we wait as we roll into April, this week, D status 60 Days....
Nice looking Jeep for your profile picture. It looks familiar to me, somehow. ;-)

I really do feel bad for people that had planned for a certain time frame and are in a situation where their lease is running out or they have sold their vehicle. For us that are not in that situation it sucks to have to wait but it could be much worse.

Just remember FCA does not want to keep pushing these dates back either. As a manufacturer they would rather build them so they can get the revenue from the sales. They are doing everything they can even though many may not believe that. It is actually hurting them to have all these Jeeps sitting around and not being able to start certain builds because of it.

That's all very true. But for all of us who have ordered and put money down we deserve a truthful statement from them.
As I stated before all BS and rumors at this time. Just what will happen if mid April comes and they announce another delay?

$uicide$hift...agree, tough situation for customers awaiting new Wranglers, yet lease expiring, etc...My wife’s upgrading to my DD, 2011Black Jeep, GC when my JL arrives. This decal she bought yesterday has me worried....
FCA certainly has a logistical nightmare, simultaneously launching 2019 Cherokee, 18’ JLU/JL, 2.0L Turbo & Diesel eventually, and retooling for 2019 JT pickup. Forget about the vendor’s shortages, soft tops....rail cars unavailable etc.
OldGuyNewJeep/ Fred, yep great choice of avatar

I understand that people want clear communication. I don't believe they can give it. This is not the same as waiting on a shipment of a single part that you go and pick up at the store when it arrives.

They have a back log of Jeeps sitting. Once these soft tops come in they need to sort them out and get them loaded. From here they need to get them onto rail cars or truck. They have so many that there are not enough rail cars and trucks to simply do a mass shipment. They will need to ship X amount and wait for the rail cars / trucks to return for another load. During this time weather and other issues can delay schedules even further that they cannot predict.

So they are left with giving vague time frames knowing that there are so many other things that can happen and change any time they give. It is the best they really can do as it is not as simple as just shipping the Jeep straight to your dealer. I understand the frustration but many of us are making it out to be a simple process and it really is not.

So, while we patiently wait for our JL 2doors, Maybe Jay or Smarttazz can start organizing for a Two Door Survivors Club meeting.....for next year. This wait will be a distant memory, possibility a East Coast meet up with our new modified JLs!
Meanwhile, suggestions on modifying my DD, so I can participate in this years Go Topless Day 2018.....don’t think the new Rubicon’s going to make it here in time May 19th. Possibly saws all out the A pillars & remove roof?? Excuse the “dirty girl”.....just back from VT snowboarding trip, and 4th East Coast Nor’easter.

Thats their current estimate, why jump to lies?

New product rolls outs these days are complicated, with many suppliers that also can have product/volume issues. A huge Feb wrangler sales volume occurred, not too surprising a new popular model is having trouble keeping up with early demand.

I wish I could buy one now too, but I know its gonna be more like june no matter how much I want it sooner.

Estimates are Estimates, I am glad to let them workout problems on early adopter units

Well Stated... folks need to take a chill pill or buy a JK... Quality first...

Imagine if they sold Jeeps at a Walmart and a new shipment came in! It would be like Black Friday. :cwl:

I'm looking at ordering a 2door Sport S, premium Sunrider top, 6 speed, in orange with anti-slip, tech and winter packages. A dealer is telling me this is an odd build and probably won't get built until late summer at best. I wanted to run it past this group and get some better insight as he is trying to push me to a JK which isn't going to happen.

Find another dealer. It is not an odd build. He just wants to move the JK and not deal with anybody harassing him about when their Jeep will be built. There is a backlog and it will be more than the quoted 6 to 8 weeks but this has NOTHING to do with the options you have chosen.

And further, I wouldn't call that an "odd" build at all. Sounds like something dealers would often stock themselves, but with an automatic. Base model with few options? Now that's an "odd" build.

Question: has anyone ordered a 2 door Sport without A/C? That's probably the strangest build out there. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even keep the no A/C special serpentine belt around. Or if it just uses the same one and spins a dead pulley

Base two door sport doesn't have AC by default. So not too odd.

And what I'm saying is that most 2 door sport buyers probably just shelled out the extra $1300 for A/C instead of remaining without.

But if anyone has gone without A/C I'd find it interesting to know. For a minute I thought about going without.

I believe @The Great Grape Ape has done this.
