They claim it is fixed, they've driven it a bit and codes haven't come back. Supposed to pick it up tomorrow.
Are you sure that’s the part that they replaced when they said cam actuator? Not the VVT phaser?

5048045AB, which is listed as "cam phaser actuator"

That’s strange. Those things never fail, and they’re readily available.

Well, they said it was due to having a WIX brand oil filter on it and denied the claim. So there is that (complete BS).

When I asked for a photo of it, they provided me with this:

I countered that it uses a spin-on and not a drop-in, and they said they accidentally sent a photo of the wrong one. They did not have and could not tell me what was on it ("already trashed").

I took it in with a WIX 57060XP, because I have a receipt for when I purchased it back at the end of September along with 5qts of Valvoline Extended Protection 5W-30 full synthetic for the last oil change.

Ran about $1500 out the door. I argued with them for a while, but found it to be a lost cause and just wanted the Jeep back.

But also, as you expected, that didn't fix it. My wife went up to the dealer with a friend to pick it up, the moment she started it, the CEL was on and symptoms were back.

I hate to say it, but you are getting scammed, hard.

Either by malice or incompetence, it doesn’t matter. The Actiator that you listed there take all of a few seconds to change out, book labor time is 0.6 hours and the part lists for 161.00.

Now there may have been a miscommunication and the actual camshaft actuator may have been replaced, though incorrectly.

They will need to replace the oil control valves and camshaft phasers and verify the engine is properly in time.

Your wix filter has nothing to do with this.

Your invoice look anything like this?

I suspected as much. I'm discussing it with the service advisor, since it's back in the shop.

Oh dude they’re just guessing and throwing parts at it. Why was the bill so much exactly? How did they break down the labor? If you’d rather, you can DM me and I’ll go over it.

Yeah. No idea - I asked for them to detail it, but they have yet to provide anything. The service advisor (I believe that is his title, anyway) I've been talking to said he didn't know and would ask the tech. No follow up since. I'll be following up on Monday morning and may take you up on the DM. Thank you.

How did this turn out for you? I am in Moab and my Jeep started throwing P000A. Nearest dealer is in Grand Junction. Took it there this morning. They tested the sensor and wiring and all was good. Tomorrow their "engine guys" are going to take a look.

We gave up on it. They replaced several parts but it's still misfiring/throwing the same codes as of last Friday. Last weekend, we traded it for a 2022 Power Wagon.

I hope your experience is much better. I will say that Stallantis went above and beyond to make things right, and that's one of the main reasons we stayed in the FCA family of vehicles.

Ugh!! Sorry to hear that, but glad they took care of you.

Currently I'm stranded in Grand Junction. Heading over to the dealer in a bit to get an update. Hoping for good news!

Just got an update at the dealer. The oil solenoid failed, which caused the cam phase actuator to fail. Further driving on it caused excess wear on the cam itself and lifters, which also all need to be replaced.

Good news is they have all parts in stock and should be done today. Also full repair to be covered under warranty.

Sitting in the waiting room right now, fingers crossed.

Here are the final notes and list of parts they replaced. The update from earlier was after I talked to the service advisor. He did show me the ticket with parts at the time.

The final parts list ended up changing a little. Turned out the solenoid was fine.

Anyway, I got it back about 5hrs ago. I drove from Grand Junction to Denver over the Rockies and all was good. I think I'm in the clear.

All in all, I cant say enough good things about Grand Junction CJD. I first called them from Moab on Wed morning. The service advisor said they were too booked up on Wed but they may be able to squeeze me in on Thursday. I got there 10am Thurs. They got it in and ruled out the cam position sensor and wiring in the afternoon, but their engine mechanics were booked the rest of the day. They said they would try to get an engine mechanic to look at it this morning (Friday). They set me up with a rental to drive back to Moab to get the rest of my stuff. They got it in Friday morning and I was out the door at about 4pm, and everything was perfect for the drive to Denver. And they covered everything under warranty (as they should) no questions asked, including the rental. Had I been at home I probably would have had to wait a month just to get it in.

I should also note my issue was a bit different from the OP. I have a 3.6l, not 2.0. Mine was only throwing code P000A. And also mine was running mostly OK. No issues starting or misfires, at idle or Rev. The big problem I was having was a loss of power under load. It was slow to accelerate, but I could cruise at 70 just fine in 5th on perfectly flat ground with no headwind, 6th with a very slight descent. Uphill was very different. Any incline at all I would have to downshift to 4th just to maintain speed. Steeper hills required 3rd gear and I would still lose speed. Going north out of Moab on US 191, on the first hill past the curve past Arches NP, in 3rd gear I was down to about 45 at the top, maybe less. Normally I can pull 70 in 4th on that hill.
