Son was driving my ‘21 JLR 2.0T and the CEL & A! lights lit up simultaneously. Have always had a Tazer to defeat ESS. Assuming the sad little motorcycle ESS battery finally died causing the A! light.

Read the code and it was P0017. Code then went away next time he started it up. I don’t see how P0017 and ESS could be connected.

He has a dealer appt tomorrow. I’m guessing they‘ll still be able to see the P0017 code (won’t be able to do anything) and maybe able to replace the ESS battery under warranty (have extended bumper to bumper).

Thoughts on this dealer visit or waste of time? Hate unmarrying the Tazer and plugging the cables back into the SGW.

I'd un-plug the Tazer and see if that doesn't resolve your issue before bringing it to a Stealer. They can only replace electronics nowadays, not fix. So if they can't figure it out they will blame it on aftermarket anyway. Of course it's your money.
The conversations pro & con about Tazer and other similar ESS defeat devices indicate that some things (minor things I guess?) don't work as they used to or designed to. The price you pay if you don't want to press that annoying tiny button with your right index finger.
Let us know of your hopeful resolve.

Thanks. Both lights vanished later yesterday. I’m going to unhook the ESS negative cable and remove the F42 fuse.
