After a little over a week check engine light came on again. Same code about the exhaust camshaft, the other code is a new one. My idle oil pressure is still at usually 29 once in a while 27 psi so I’m thinking the little bit of water that went through the oil maybe loosened up some crap and is making the oil pressure solenoid stick? Or the exhaust camshaft one or both?

Exhaust side cam phaser and OCV likely needs replaced. At least just my opinion from reading about this issue that just doing the OCV alone doesn’t fix it.

Your oil pressure should be around 17-19 at idle.

It’s getting a new oil pump. And a new oil separator, which is underneath the intake manifold and has a very small oil leak that lets oil seep out on the side of the engine. Oil never makes it to the ground, but it’s had this very small leak for probably three years now. Might as well get it fixed while it’s at the dealership and being taken apart. Fingers crossed that the oil pump fixes the problem. But my guess is I’ll get it back drive it for a little bit and then I’ll get the engine code for the exhaust camshaft slow to respond again and then they’ll address that and that should finally fix it.

Have you brought up the possibility of the cam phaser/OCV with them? What was their explanation on the oil pump

I did, asked him about doing that at the same time, they said that the oil pump pressure can cause issues with other systems so that’s all they wanted to do to start with

so the oil pump arrived, and the mechanic pulled the valve cover and timing cover, and he saw metal so they stopped there and contacted the mechanical breakdown insurance and told them it needs a new engine, I went and looked at it couldn’t see any big pieces of metal and the pictures it kinda looks like there’s some metal sparkles here and there, but with my eye, I really couldn’t see them. Geico asked for oil change records since there’s only one in the database, which was the very first one I had the dealership do I’ve done all the rest. I provided photos of what Costco could show me on their computer for the last five years showing 70 quarts of oil purchased and I bought 10 oil filters on Amazon and I had one receipt from Walmart so I had 11 oil filter receipts. I provided those last Thursday and then the following Tuesday morning. I got a text from GEICO and said that the new engine has been approved. I called the dealership to authorize it and they said it should be about a week and a half to two weeks and I’ll be able to pick it up.
