2.0T Muffler delete?

Good to rest your case when you don't have one. The 2.0t with no muffler meets noise requirements, carb restrictions, and all legal parameters. For the same reason fiat sold the Abarth with no muffler from the factory. Why are you entitled to tell people what they should do, especially when they are well within their rights to do so?

Vehicle Code 21750. Adequate muffler required
27150. (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass, or similar device.

I guessed 30lbs in my original post. Looks like I was spot on being it's 26lbs as posted above. Weight is weight. Any reduction is a positive. Plus it cleans up that rear undercarriage and won't be banging off rocks and stuff off roading.

Not really considering I live out in the middle of nowhere and have no neighbors. Lol.. Also not all 4 cylinders sound the same. I'd definitely like to here this in person first but from the videos I watched and people reviewing it doesn't sound bad. Actually gave off a deeper tone then stock. Only really loud when the pedal was total mashed to the floor. I'm mainly looking to do it to get rid of that heavy gigantic muffler on the rear to clear up space and not have to worry about it banging on stuff off road.

I understand the improving the sound but I don’t understand the muffler banging on stuff logic after watching [Banned Site] driving his 2 door bone stock off-roading in really rough terrain without touching the muffler.

No, this little 2.0t with turbo, cat, and resonator doesn't even come close to 95dB.

You might want to go back a bunch of videos and watch the delete he did on his white 4 door Wrangler. His stock exhaust was all banged up. He did the delete with the same exact Dynomax muffler delete I posted!!!

I see. For the looks of the muffler, it was probably hit once and it didn’t look all banged up and barely noticeable. I was expecting to see something with holes everywhere. I would like to see how he got that dent.

Installed MBRP exhaust bypass about 2 years ago. Love the throttle noise. Gave the 2.0 noise some life for sure. Drone present at highway speeds maintaining speed about 60mph. No change in performance or mpg. Looks nice and clean. Easily replaced mod is you don't like it. Solo 15 min install tops. Previous car was a Dodge Challenger RT. In comparison the Challenger stock was significantly louder than this mod fwiw. Have been at the dealer for every oil change and not one negative comment. Don't think the big stock muffler will ever go back on my ride.

I was thinking about that, too. A 25-30 lb weight reduction isn't going to even be a blip on the radar of a vehicle that weighs close to 4,500 lbs.

Every little bit adds up. But if it clears up that area in the rear, reduces heat in the rear, sounds better then stock, reduces a little weight, and looks better all for $100 bucks? I'll take it. It's a combination of many small benefits.

People who run air compressors for ARB lockers and other things in that rear floor tub will tell you the heat from the stock muffler affects their gear!! This mod is a no brainer IMO.. Its the first thing I'm doing when I get my new Jeep.

Before you spend the money you could just unclamp the muffler to get an idea. It will dump just at the rear axle. If you don't mind the sound, then spend on the pipe. For something so simple though, I would wonder if a local exhaust shop couldn't just fab a pipe for less, support a small business? I still have the stocker on there and have not touched it yet playing in the rocks. Also, not stock height. I'm planning on unclamping to see what it's all about, I just have other mods I need to get wrapped up first.

Here's the thing. You can buy the pipe and bolt it on. Drive it for a while. If it gets old, then have a muffler shop install a small muffler or resonator on that pipe (again, Jegs and Summit are your friend). If all fails, you can just bolt the OEM muffler back on.

What I see are people that just want to straightpipe their car and have someone cut the muffler off and then weld in a pipe. Buyers remorse sets in and they realize that they should have asked for their old muffler back so they could save it. As we all know, shops are not going to hold onto your stuff just in case you want it back 6 months down the road.

This is my thoughts as well. Which is why I'd spend the money on the bolt on one. And id save my stock muffler. That way I can bolt the stock muffler back on if needed.
