Anyone running with a muffler delete on their 2.0 turbo? Issues? Concerns?

No issues. More sound, more clearance and less weight.

Check my posts on page 4, I have few comments about the sound and posted a video. I liked it but went back to stock simply because I like how quiet the jl is. I'll be posting mine for sale soon.

I like it. Not very obnoxious and no drone. Also freed up space for me to mount my train horns. I went with the flow master pipe but honestly stay away from it. They didn’t flare the end of the pipe nearly enough.

Agreed on all points made here.

Note, if you have the trailer package, make sure that the tip clears or is away from the trailer harness.......it will melt.....FML.

With the muffler delete.... Will the Jeep still pass inspection for states that have emissions?

It should. The muffler isn't part of the emissions system, ie. it is not "monitored" like the catalytic converters, O2 sensors, etc. The muffler's sole job is to lower the sound of the engine and exhaust, does nothing to alter emissions.

I had a 2004 TJ Rubicon which I removed the factory muffler and made my own high clearance system. During my annual emission testing, the tech looked for the catalytic converter and then hooked up the test machine. It always passed.

Mufflers muffle or deaden the sound of the exhaust, hence the name. You won't have any issues with emissions.

Most states do have noise control laws that require a vehicle to have a muffler and one "in good working order" and in some states, like in MD, that doesn't amplify engine sound. However, we all know no one follows this, they are hardly enforced, and are usually tacked onto other more serious charges in case something doesn't stick. Delete and be free.

Its pretty loud at cold start and can be a little obnoxious driving daily. Love the clearance though.

I just did this. Let me say: the space it gives back is awesome. The new exhaust sound that you have is not. It’s loud, for sure. During a hwy drive, it was annoying. Sounds like a ricer. I’m still on the fence of keeping it on or making the delete “trail gear”.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered the dynomax muffler delete. I guess if I don't like it, I can always throw my muffler back on.
