I'm always good for 3/4s of a roll of paper towels at every change. I will find a way to spill or not place the catch bin under the arch of used oil. I installed the fumoto valve and thought I was good to go. Well...I knocked over the funnel when bottling the used oil to bring back to Wallymart. LOL

Since they take 5 qts I always buy the big jugs from Costco or Walmart or whatever. I can fit those under the jeep with the hose so all 5qts go into the jug so I don’t have to pour used oil into anything.
I used to use a big oil pan/container but it’d still be all leaky and oily taking into the drain at autozone…

Since they take 5 qts I always buy the big jugs from Costco or Walmart or whatever. I can fit those under the jeep with the hose so all 5qts go into the jug so I don’t have to pour used oil into anything.

You have heard of vacuum oil extraction right?

Learned that trick with BMWs and VWs. Those oil changes are like working a rubics cube. But, sucking the oil out through the oil level hole is easy

But I admit, if my vehicle is under warranty, it is, the dealer changes the oil. Wait for deals and it can be done for not much more than doing it yourself. Then there is proof an oil change was done under warranty

On the 2.0, good beemer mech said with direct injection, change your oil more, like every 4000 miles more, dont extend to 15,000.
I think I am going to try one of those suckers out. I hated pulling the plug on the pan of my JK because of the oil spillage. There may be a little when taking the filter off, but that is not nearly as sloppy. Thx!

I used my oil extractor last week on my wife's Sahara. Took about 15 minutes to do it all. I use it on my Pacifica and I wouldn't do it any other way.

I used my oil extractor last week on my wife's Sahara. Took about 15 minutes to do it all. I use it on my Pacifica and I wouldn't do it any other way.
Is the tubing going to be long enough to use the sucker properly from the floor on a lifted Jeep? I am stock for now, but plan on a 2.5 inch lift and 35's at some point.

I had to sit it on the front bumper and pump since it's higher than my van. It was still easy to do. You shouldn't have any problems.

Hold plug firmly and PRESS IN while loosening. When you feel the thread skip, and while still holding firmly, remove the plug and your hand from the path of the oil stream that will follow it.

No need for all this other non sense.

I still managed to get oil where I didn't want it doing it that way. I guess I am not that coordinated. I like the idea of spending less time under the Jeep on my back since it is more difficult for me to move around these days. I can deal with changing the filter. If I had a lift, things might be different. I like the idea of the vacuum, if it works as well as it seems to.

I like the idea of spending less time under the Jeep on my back since it is more difficult for me to move around these days. I can deal with changing the filter. If I had a lift, things might be different. I like the idea of the vacuum, if it works as well as it seems to.
I have used mine since I purchased my Pacifica in 2019. I have never had to get underneath my van and I don't plan on getting underneath my wife's Sahara for oil changes.

I don't know who has done what for how long but the 2.0 is one the best designed easiest oil filter changes you will ever do.

I have always done my own oil and filter changes on every vehicle I have ever owned.

With the 2.0, yes it is underneath but it's not like you have to jack the jeep up or anything. I use an over sized 12 quart pan on every vehicle. The oil drain plug and filter on the 2.0 are in close proximity to each other.

Pull the plug and yes you might get a little on your fingers, but that's it if you know what you're doing. I can place my pan where it will capture both the plug and filter. Pull the filter and same thing, yes you might get a little on your fingers. I spill zero on my garage floor.

Compared to other vehicles the 2.0 is a dream to do the oil and filter change on.

There is zero mess on the top, your only removing the oil fill cap, and putting a funnel in. Zero mess, zero spill.

Maybe there are easier vehicles but it doesn't get much easier than the 2.0.

Unless maybe you afraid to get on the ground or get a little oil on your fingers. In which case take it to the dealership and let them make a complete mockery of the job like what happened to the guy a few posts up.

I have no doubt that it is an easy job. I just like the idea of it being an easier and cleaner way to drain the oil. But mostly, I like that my time on the ground is limited, and less likely to aggravate my back and neck issues. I changed the oil on my JK for 7 years and my CJ5 before that, so I know it is not fricken’ rocket surgery!

My comment wasn't directed toward you brother. I understand if people sometimes have issues that prevent them from doing something they would ordinarily do, or like to do.

My only point was that in MHO the 2.0 was well thought out and designed, and that it is really easy to do.

I was pretty pist, but I already expected some BS. I was ready for "something" like usual.

No pride in work anymore. I would be embarrassed if a car I worked on came out like that.
That’s why you don’t let dealers change your oil lol it’s 99.9% of the time not a mechanic doing it it’s some $10 an hour oil monkey
