So I am considering the Willy’s sport JLU with a recon package and was wondering how those who have lifted Jeeps with this engine like it. It’s literally like $2k less than the 6 cylinder.

So, 2.0 or 3.6 with 35s?

EDIT: Thank you all for the the responses! I will most likely be going with the i4 at the beginning of next year.

Either engine has no problem with 35s. The 2.0 is no weaker than the 3.6 in terms of driving heavier wheel and tire setups.

I would drive both options, both are plenty capable but I personally like the 3.6 better as I enjoy the sound and feel of the way it drives more. The 2.0 is actually slightly more powerful, believe it or not.

I have owned both and would not go back to the V6. The torque is far better.

I also have a Willys XR.

I can not speak for the 3.6. However, I have a ‘20 Sahara 2.0T 64k plus miles.

Its riding on 35s. All types of driving in various conditions including some basic off roading. We all except for crawling…… is that cal side red driving I might ask…. Another debate.

Anyway, I have no issues.

Good luck!!!!!

I have 2022 Willys Xtreme Recon 2.0T. Plenty of power. No issues at all especially with 4.56 gears. Perfect set up for 35 inch tires.

V6 sounds better…the 2.0 is a bit quicker. If you do mountain driving the turbo in the 2.0 greatly reduces power loss at altitude.

Even at sea level, the 2.0's low and mid range torque curve has proven to be resistant to too much performance loss when switching to larger tires.

Here's my 19 JLUR with the eTorque 2.0, 3.5" Gamechanger, and 38x13.5's. Still has the factory 4.10 gears and performs great both on and off road. The need for shorter gears is barely a blip on the radar.

4.5" Gamechanger, 40x13.5's, and still factory 4.10's. A regear is a larger blip on the radar, but still not a high priority. It gets up to speed surprisingly quick, and it did great rock climbing in Windrock Park.

2.0 xr is a blast to drive with way more torque in the low rpm range compared to v6
