I had bought a WolfBox 840H dash camera a while back and commented on a post about my impression of it. Full disclosure, WolfBox reached out to ask if I'd review their G900 camera. This is a review of their G900 rearview mirror camera. This camera is a dual channel camera (front camera attached to rearview display and a rear camera). The display is shaped like a rearview mirror and attaches to your existing mirror with some rubber elastic fasteners (two sizes provided to find a good secure fit). In my 2024 JL 2door I am using the smaller size fasteners and the camera display is very secure. The G900 camera is a 4K front camera and 2.5K rear camera. The rear camera is IP68 rated water proof. I have my rear camera attached to the top of the third brake light. It is fastened with provided 3M heavy duty tape. It has been through, cold, warm, rain, ice and it still remains fastened to the top of the third brake light. The function of the camera has been great. The only drawback to having the camera mounted outside and exposed as I do is that when it rains and moisture forms on the camera lens it distorts the view in the display. But I've noticed that while driving for a bit, the view clears up. I mounted the rear camera in this location because I have a soft top and not a suitable location inside to mount the camera.

1. The display that mounts to the rearview mirror is 12" long. This view is of the rear camera.

2. The camera power cable, GPS cable, and rear camera cable all are routed through the overhead console, down the passenger A-frame pillar, behind the dashboard and glove box, and down to the floorboard. The rear camera cord is routed down the passenger side trim, under the carpet and to the back panel, and out the grommet on the rear door. The power cord is routed from behind the glovebox, down into the passenger floorboard under the carpet. I am using the 12 Volt plug in to power the camera.

3. The rear camera is mounted on top of the third brake light with 3M heavy duty tape. It has stayed secure through all sorts of weather here in southeast Texas.

4. Here is a sample of video from the front camera. I do have a gripe with the front crash avoidance camera box that takes up a third of the top right of this video. That is a drawback to using this camera on the 2024 Jeep JL. They all come standard with this camera mounted in front of the rearview mirror, a big black plastic box containing the camera.

@mjf4241 Timely writeup. I tried to install the G900 last weekend. The cameras and its functions look really nice. I'm looking forward to using it.

I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer.

First... I tested the front and rear cameras prior to installation. The reverse lines on the rear camera do not show up on the screen. Based on my understanding of the instructions, this should be automatic as long as the red wire is tapped into the reverse lights. Is there a special setting that I need to turn on?

Second, the rear camera cable is not long enough to reach the rear of our JLU. Was your cable long enough? Or did you get some type of extension?

Any insight that you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey boatbuilder88 I have enjoyed the camera. Since the JL comes with a backup camera in Uconnect I decided not to splice in the red wire. I think there is a setting in the menu to turn the parking lines off and on. I will look at that tonight and confirm that.

That stinks that the rear view camera cable is not long enough. @WOLFBOX CAR LIFE could you confirm an extension cable for the rear camera and possibly help @Boatbuilder88 out with that?

I have a 2 door JL and the standard length worked fine for me. Hopefully Wolfbox will reply to this post and help you out.

I would hold off buying the current generation especially with outside mounting of the rear cam.

1. They are developing a new system that will allow a 3rd front grill mounted cam (trail cam)
2. thier current cameras have a weak IP rating fo outside use

Thanks! I am testing the G900 out on a JLU. May move it to a JKU so I would like the backup cam lines to work.

I installed one of these a few weeks ago in my 2024 Rubicon X 4xe and I am pretty happy with it. I didn't install the camera outside, I installed it behind the rear glass. I was worried the tinting would negatively effect the video quality, but if it is it is pretty negligible. It is definitely a bit grainy at night but not enough that I can't see what is going on.

My one issue is I had a lot of trouble finding a reasonable fuse location for tapping in. As I sit now, I can't actually close the fuse box as the fuse tap sits right on the rail where the top is supposed to lock into. I am considering pulling it out of the fuse box and make use of the wire pair that is included with my aux buttons. Only issue I have with that is I am not sure how to install when not using the fuse mount. Something for me to figure out.

over all, I think it is a great system. I don't have to worry about the fact that the 37" tires take up most of the back window. Main draw back is now I can't see into the back seat to see how my dog is doing. I believe they actually have a 3 camera model that includes interior view but I didn't see that until I had already purchased the G900.

Hi, please make sure the red line on the rear camera cable is connected to the positive pole of the reverse light.

Hi, there,

I've consulted with our after-sales department regarding the issue you're experiencing with the hardware kit installation. To assist you further, would you mind taking a photo of your car's fuse box and the corresponding fuse diagram? Please send these images to the email address [email protected] provided, and one of our professional technicians will be in touch to guide you through the installation process.

If it's more convenient for you, feel free to share your email address with me, and I’ll arrange for a technician to reach out to you directly.

Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to resolving this for you.

Yes, the red wire is connected to the positive wire for the reverse light. The screen turns to the rear camera when I shift the transmission into reverse so I believe it is connected properly. I do not see any parking lines or any reference to parking lines in the menus.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Are the camera connectors special in any way? I'm wondering if I can just get a camera better for outdoor use from somewhere else.

It can be linked using a hardware kit, or connected to the car's cigarette opener. Some users also use an external battery connection.
