I will start this off by saying that I had (well, have still) a G900. My main use case was being able to see behind me with a full car. Both the 37" tire and all the stuff I take camping completely blocks my view using a normal mirror. The G900 worked admirably. There were a few issues. The ACC hump blocks a good chunk of the front camera view. This didn't bother me all that much as I really wanted the back view. The visor gets in the way. This is somewhat annoying but an affect of having a 12" mirror. This really doesn't bother me as I can just move the mirror out of the way, pull the visor down, and then move it back. Lastly, I think their marketing claim of 4k+2.5k isn't exactly honest. They claim it is a 5MP camera and a 2 MP camera. Those numbers do not come out to 4K and 2.5K. Most likely they are doing upscaling of lower resolutions to 4K and 2.5K.

So, last week I installed the G900 pro. First, I will say I was super happy by some of the decisions Wolfbox made. The biggest being, that the camera has a connector to the wire. This means I didn't have to run new wires all the way through the Jeep. I just unplugged the old screen and camera and plugged in the new ones in place. Super easy.

The quality is dramatically better. One nice thing is that Wolfbox advertised the sensor which is super helpful. We can get actual specs from that. These Sony sensors are a true 4K and 2.5K sensor and it shows. Everything is significantly sharper. At night it looks so much better. Even when it is pitch dark and you can't see anything there is far less pixelization in the new system than the old. The screen itself is clearly better as well. All the GPS lines, and time, and speed are much sharper.

Overall, I think this was a great upgrade. I am really enjoying it. I haven't bothered playng with the wifi as of yet as, again, dash cam wasn't really what I was looking for. So, if you have a G900 should you upgrade? Obviously, that is up to you but I am not dissapointed in the pro version at all. And now I have a camera I can use as a back up. Later this month I am renting an RV for a road trip and I can take the old G900 and use that, which I am really looking foward to.

Could it be better? Most definitely. A removable front camera just seems so obvious. I know some people are unhapy with how it blocks the visor but it makes me wonder if somebody could make a shorter visor. Maybe something for Wolfbox to think about. I do not understand why they chose the IMX335 for the back camera. Maybe there really good reasons for that but I would love to see a 4K camera for the back.

I am lazy and didn't take any pictures, sorry. If there is a particular view you are looking for let me know and i can try and work on that.

It’s likely they didn’t use a 4K camera in the back because the processor can’t handle two 4K streams.

How good is the new rear camera? The poor dynamic range on the 900 is disappointing. To the point it’s difficult to judge distance to other vehicles at night. Worse is how it completely washes out the image when cars approach.
