What they should do is just put out all 2dr JLs as 2019s. That would benefit the customer and make up for the inconvenience incurred.
I think they should too, but if you search for your VIN on carfax or someplace similar, it already shows up as a 2018. I think it’s the tenth character that designated the year. Boo.

Ordered mine on Feb 20th and I’m yet to even have a VIN. I know it’s not going to happen but Jeep is really screwing the pooch on this 2door production

I have to wonder if they are waiting to get enough orders to keep the line busy once they get it up and running. I hate waiting but hopefully they will have all the bugs worked out by the time ours are being produced. And maybe the off-road pages reinstalled.

If you haven't received a VIN that is not Jeep's fault. That is the dealers fault. Once the dealer submits the order to jeep they should receive a VIN within 24 hours.

I was thinking the same thing, because Jeep can't be transparent about what's going on, just take the easy path like they've done all along and say all 2 door 2018's are now 2019s!

...and tell Jeep chat to stop making up excuses that vary wildly about what's going on.

I have the VON just hasn’t got a VIN attached to it yet. I see what you’re saying so I’ll stop back in there over the weekend to see what the hold up is. Shenanigans!!!! Lol

New to Jeep!
Had the “opportunity” to provide feedback on JEEP customer service. I was polite, but said very clearly that not getting clear information was unacceptable customer service. They said they would pass on the comments. I am thinking holding my breath that it changes would be a bad choice...why did they even bother to ask?

I ordered early January and was originally told to expect delivery in late Feb, early March. Delay after delay and now the latest is to expect a mid March build. How long after the build before delivery? Will that be delayed as well? If I had known this I would have bought a JK and traded it in on a JL when things were running smoothly!

I’m starting to regret my order. I waited so long for Sting-Gray to be available that I’m sure I’m back of the 2-door order line. I compromised on a Rubicon, what I really wanted was a 2-door Sahara which was MAYBE sorta leaked the day Sting-Gray finally opened. I decided to dive in anyway, not wanting it wait for a phantom model that might not even happen.
I knew at time of order there was a delay. I figured 30 days at worst, pushing start of production to mid-March, then if I was lucky with option choices to get into job 1 I might have it by the middle or end of May.
The latest who-knows-whats-real chat seemed to pretty firmly say mid-April to start production. Being that I ordered so late, I can see it taking 30 days to get to D1, and another 30 to build and deliver. So my best guess (why am I guessing on a $40k+ purchase, Jeep?!) is mid-June. If I don’t make Job 1, will I get it before 2019 order banks open? What happens if there are more delays?
I’ve been patiently waiting for months just to PLACE an order based on color, which is irrelevant because no colors are being built still. I could have ordered in December knowing it was “late availability” but been in line should it release early...
Frustrated at lack of communication here. My dealer doesn’t know anything better than Jeep Chat, which is no better than @JeepCares - starting to think that Jeep doesn’t care.
Putting some thought into this, will be reaching out to the sales manager at my dealer tomorrow, and will try to find some escalation contacts within Jeep. This is just bad customer service. I’m a customer that is ordering not exactly what I want, and very likely to trade in and order another one in 12-18 months when every combo is available.
If you’re listening Jeep, we’re your customers. We are trying to give you money.
We're regret to learn of your frustrations, N75. There are many factors that are involved in the build process, and apologize that it may be moving slower that you expected. We can look into your order further. Just send us a PM if you have not already.

Additionally, to clear something up - a 2 door Sahara will not be an option for the 2018 JLs.

@JeepCares how about updating the vin’s on the 2-doors to reflect what they truly are, 2018.5? Many automakers had half year models in the past. Mazda still does this, and there might be others. It sounds like the first 2-door won’t be hitting a dealer lot before at least 5 months into the year at this point. So the 2-door will be a true half year model, with the 2019 model likely announced just 3-4 months after the 2-door hits the market.

Ok, list some of “those” factors... labor? Hardtops? Why, and who exactly at Jeep messed up 2 door productions?:movember:

With more of an explanation from FCA I'm sure people would accept things better. The silence is the worst option.

Not to burst your bubble but I was told they were waiting for parts a long time ago. It took more than 30 days but the parts finally came in week ago and the build still has not started. The support team in the chat has very limited information.
I waited 20 something days and the next time I checked they said ive only been waiting 3 days. I was like uhhh i ordered in February. "Sorry Sir I can only tell you what my system is saying".
