If you're gonna spend that kind of money why not get something that's built better and actually useful should you decide to go off road in a year or 2?
That’s what I’m saying. Don’t downgrade to some lame tube steps when you have the opportunity to make your otherwise plain Jeep cooler. Go for some sweet rock rails with a built in step.

^^this^^....OP, I got these, they keep the majority of crap off. I chose these for the ground clearance and they don’t stick out to far. There’s a crap load of different rails/steps out there, just wanted to give you first hand info on these, so you can add them or disregard them from your list of possibilities.....:)

Am I having deja vu, or did you just again confuse the LOD signature series on your ride with the destroyers mentioned above? One of us didn't have their Wheaties this morning. Hahaha!

After the wallet has a chance to at least scab over, I plan on getting a set of the same rails as you for my JLUR. Their mounting choice seems like it would be rock solid, protection from tire flingers and door dingers should be increased over standard rubi rails, and they look pretty damn sexy.

Thanks for the pix and have a great day, Roky!

I have the lame tube steps. They actually do help keep a bunch of road crap off the jeep. Funny thing is , I have yet to step on them. Go figure .

Glad I'm not the only one. Gotta have them though due to: kids and a disabled father who likes to go on adventures with me. Dad needs to get out every now and then to smoke his cigars/take a piss. LOL. Personally, I don't think I have ever once used them in the past 8 years on any of my Wranglers.

Thanks - looking at other options so I'm not totally sold on this one yet. Getting some good feedback.

I have the Moab edition, which (I believe) is the only version which comes with these rock rails as a stock feature. First of all, they definitely stick out further than the rails on the Rubicon. I also use mine as a step to get into the Jeep. It's definitely not as wide as the true steps on the Sahara's, but it's wide enough to get 80% of my foot on and use as a step. Now is it wide enough to truly protect the Jeep from rocks being flung? It will help some but not a complete guard.

Good to know - not sticking out as far as a true step is one of my criteria. These fit the bill and Roky's LOD Signature Series look great too - also liked LOD's destroyer series (although more of a true step). Hardest part is deciding based off just pictures/descriptions on a company's website, pics posted here are a 100 times better.

The rubicon rock rails are very tucked under the vehicle, they offer no protection from road debris or idiots who open their car doors hard in parking lots. I immediately replaced mine with roam frame mounted rails. Lots of protection now!

Agreed!

LOD destroyers for reference: I love them, but they do take a while to get the mud off of them.

I don't use the rock slide steps, but met a few folks using them at a Jeep event. They had nothing but positives for everything about them except the price. They were not doing the easy trails either, so I suspect they hold up well to abuse also. For complete disclosure, they were running the JK versions.
