We are brand new to Jeep and brand new to Wrangler. We’ve owned our ‘18 JL exactly 3 weeks and are loving it, However, we welcomed a cracked windshield yesterday thanks to a generous pickup truck. Wondering who has the fastest record time for cracking theirs...

I did not make it home from the dealerships!

The clarity is crystal clear and I paid $200. I suggest really shopping around because I was quoted as high as $450. There is a two year warranty on the film and it comes with a conditioner that he recommended applying once once a month. You can use your wipers with the film, however I do not because my vehicle is coated with Ceramic Pro, including all glass.
A few more questions -
- I called the guy who clear wrapped the front of our Jeep to see if he used this product. He said he hadn't tried it, but asked if it was legal in IL. I looked up the law and it states nonreflective film can cover the top 6" of the windshield. From that I assume it would not be legal???
- Living in northern IL and our brutal winters, I'm assuming you cannot use a scraper on it to clear snow and ice?
- You mention you don't use your wipers because your vehicle is coated with Ceramic Pro. Did you have the ClearPlex coated with Ceramic Pro?

Thanks for the info!

ClearPlex is a clear protective film installed on the entire windshield. I live in AZ so I cannot answer questions about state laws in IL. I can tell you the film is invisible so I doubt law enforcement would even notice if you were pulled over. Also, the warranty card specifically states ice scrappers are not to be used on this film. You can however, use your windshield wipers.

Once the ClearPlex was installed, I had to take the vehicle back to the detail shop that originally applied the Ceramic Pro to coat the new windshield.

I’ll post a picture later so you can see the clarity.

I had the windshield in my truck replaced yesterday, my glass guy said the JL is expensive. Main on my end because of the adaptive cruise control. When the windshield is replaced the camera has to be recalibrated.

He said all said in done about $900.

He also informed me there is a replacement windshield for the JL that's a Gorilla glass version from Mopar at the cost $700 just for the glass.....but it's supposed to be very strong

Say what???? The camera has to be recalibrated??? That seems like a line of BS to me. How can you fold the windshield down, use ACC, fold it back up and everything still work? How is replacing the glass any different?

I’ve had two replacements and no recalibration was required, however that windshield was $900. Thank goodness for glass coverage on the insurance policy.

I’ve heard Gorilla glass is not yet available for the JL. It is however, available to those who still own a JK.

Here is pics of the damage, half an inch up and it would have hit the wiper not the window. (impact circled and placed a red line on crack). I have $100 deductible and it will be replaced tomorrow.

I've had two very loud rock hits on the windshield. One of them was the day after driving home from the dealer (8/25), the other was yesterday (9/17). No chips or cracks, but I'm convinced untreated glass would have chipped. I sprung for the Crystal Fusion treatment from the dealer. I didn't think this treatment was worth anything, but it included a windshield replacement warranty with no deductible. Maybe I was wrong about this stuff though....
