Here’s my MC from behind and the front Rancho. The Rancho is a bit scuffed up now after my Rubicon Trail run. But the red has grown on me.

I'm running a rear golden diaper from Metal Cloak also. I highly recommend getting one. I was trying to hold out for them to release a front skid, but I may have to pick up a Rancho one.

I've been running the MC rear skid and a Rancho front skid. The Rancho skid folded on the first hit it took. I ordered the MC front and rear diff covers with the new front skid and got them last week. Unfortunately the front Rancho skid folded and I can't get it off due to it's deformation. Going to take it in to my friends shop and have them remove it. I'd stay clear of the Rancho skids.

Wow what a hit, makes me rethink the Rancho skid.

Well this thread just cost me $340 - thank goodness MetalCloak is having a sale.

What are you doing? What kind of wheeling? Unless you are doing some serious rock crawling where you could slip and bang the bottom of the diff really hard, you likely will only ever need stronger diff covers. Even that isn’t always necessary and from my experience really only necessary if you do lots of rock crawling, muddling, or traverse murky water where you can’t see large sticks/rocks/logs that you might run into. If you do basic trail riding, your stock diff covers are fine. Jeep tests these vehicles in all kinds of environments, bring in the off road magazines to have them test and review, and they pretty much do it stock.

Now, if you want the look, they are a great number of cool looking diff covers to personalize your Jeep and there’s no reason not to do that if that’s what you want to do. They are super easy to change, especially if you use a LubeLocker gasket. Just make sure you torque the bolts correctly and use blue locktite.
I never have understood this mentality. It literally only takes one hit on the right rock to do major damage to a diff/cover. You don't have to be rock crawling to mangle your differentials/covers.

Just a head's up, the rear MC skid won't work if you have a track bar relocation bracket. Ask me how I know.
Lol. I did the same thing. :CWL:

looks like it saved your diff from a disaster. being steel, you can probably bend it back and still keep using it. i have the save one on the front, and MC on the rear. the rancho is very beefy. that had to have been a hell of a hit. with the weight of the vehicle coming down on it. that would bend any piece of steel down there. but it saved the diff which is the important part.

id like to get an MC for the front but wasnt planning on swapping out my diff cover. plus, they only have it for the M210(?) and not us lowly non-rubi owners. :(

mlebofsky,

To fit the track bar, did you just shorten it all the way. I tried to install the same thing about three months ago but the track bar was too long. I do need to re center the axle after installing a after market driveline.
Thanks

Are you going to relocate your stabilizer next. That is where I was hitting the most before I installed the SteerSmarts relocation bracket and my falcon Nexus stabilizer.
