Day 34

In an earlier mod I wanted to use my wireless charger with my ProClip mount but phone wouldn't stay on it. Doesn't surprise me. I have a Note 8. So I decided to move this charger to a horizontal location. Best idea I could come up with was to make a wooden piece that would sit on top of dash and hook charger to it. This worked. Well today I installed my other larger ProClip mount. I had no idea it had a horizontal mounting pad on it. I figured iPads, etc would mount to the vertical plastic. Anyway this was perfect to put the charger on. Looks better.

I have Metalcloak 3.5" game changer lift with 38" tires, all 4 pucks on front and 2 on rear. I flexed the JL using 21" tall ramps I made. The front tires were barely touching fenders. SteerSmarts top mounted draglink touched the rubber cooling line but missed frame by 1/8". Rear tires were heavily pressing against fenders. I went from 2 pucks on rear to 4 pucks. Rear tires still rubbing. Rubber bump stops look awfully squashed. Rear tires were also heavily pressed against pinch seam.

So 2 things perplex me...

1. If I have all 4 pucks installed why would I have any rubbing. Are my tires too big? I figured people were running 40s with this lift. Not too many lifts taller. View attachment 185631

2. If the top mounted draglink is a bad idea because it limits up travel, we'll it wouldn't help me in the slightest to switch to bottom mount. Tires are already touching fender. I really need another puck up front and maybe 2 in the back.

The front round pucks are tilted because I didn't have bolt tight enough.

For ours with 37s I run 3 pucks f/r and don’t have any rubbing. Don’t know when you ordered your steer smart drag link but they now specially mention MC and recommend for their 3.5 to go with the bottom mount DL vs the no drill top mount.

I’m ordering the AAL highline led fender for the front and will remove another puck. Might be something to look into

If you get a chance, could you post a few more pics of your sliders? I've not seen anyone else with them on the board yet and I'm very interested. Do they mount in the body bolts?

Let me know how it handles this weekend
Handled decent! Felt fairly mute at points and all the difficult trails we’re close due to snow where we were but worked it out enough to be happy. All about cost/benefit for us:rock:

Went to work today and had a new creaking sound coming from my front end. It did it when i would come to a stop, as if it was a spring creak. When i got home from work, I asked my wife to help me narrow it down. It was just the driver side. So I got underneath and lifted it up and down by pushing on the frame. I instantly heard the same creak. Turns out the front part of the driver side lower control arm bushing was creaking. I put a wrench on it and it wasnt loose per say, but wasnt super tight. So I tightened it back up and go to check and noise gone.

I lucked out finding the noise this time.

Looks good! Do you have a part number for the rear cup holders? How hard were they to install? Thanks so much

Installed the hilift jack bracket and rotopax fuel can mount.

I would have preferred a couple more mounting points inboard of the existing ones. It looks like there is plenty of room between the tire (35” KO2) and the jack, and I’m thinking that the CHP might have issues with the placement of the Rotopax. Maybe I’ll make an extension bracket. C’est la vie.

The spacing looks much different than their promo pictures. I don’t like the spacing or the can blocking the tail light. Thank you for
posting. I had the bumper and carrier on my list and will likely avoid it.

Swap the high lift and the can?
I followed the orientation that Warn showed in their instructions, thinking that I wouldn’t be able to remove the fuel can if I mounted it between the spare and the hi-lift jack. However, I forgot that that was the orientation in the promo photo. Per your suggestion, I thought I would give it a try and here is how it turned out.

It looks much better and now there is only a minor obstruction of the tail light. However, the jack does hamper removal of the rotopax, as I initially thought. To remove it, I have to totally unscrew and remove the rotopax locking handle, then work the container out between the hilift jack mount and rotopax mount.

I originally purchased the tire carrier because it offers a hilift jack mount with easy access. I figured the rotopax mount was a bonus, since the 2-door suffers from a smaller fuel tank. Well, it’s not ideal, but I think it will work.
