How do you do Soft Top Window Storage

This is my first jeep. Have a nice new JLU and just installed a soft top.

The trick question is, when I take the windows off, where to store them. I know Mopar has a storage bag (more money to spend $$$$), but reviews state lots of problems when storing the windows in the JL.

Anyone have some thoughts/tricks/suggestions?

I bought some moving blankets from harbor freight and just wrap them so they don't get scratched up. Roll a blanket up and fold the large window around it so it doesn't crease.

Yesterday I built a storage shelf inside of my hardtop, for when I don't want to bother bringing the windows with me:

I throw mine in corner of garage. I’d rather get the scratching done now, because I know it’s going to happen no matter how careful I am

For a cheap solution I’d have to second eck’s moving blanket suggestion. That’s what I’m planning on doing.

First time with the windows out today. Spent all day in safari mode with doors on.

I bought the Mopar storage bag. Works well, fits behind the seats in my 2DR.

We have a lot of pollen here, so I used a microfiber dust cleaner to remove the pollen before putting the in the bag. Looks like this will work out well, and I can just keep the windows and rear bar with me in the Jeep. If only it weren't so pricey.

Think you mean "in JL," as opposed to "at home."

If at home, that box they came in is my go to.

For "in rig" I have the soft top storage bag, but it's nothing that I couple of moving blankets, as said above, or towels couldn't duplicate. : - )

In many of the popular Jeep part sites/stores they only obvious option was the Mopar window bag at $170 which is way overpriced for a canvas bag and even then with the windows stored in it it is too big to fit in the back of the Jeep.

After looking at other options like various JK bags I found this on on Amazon for $49, I figured what the hell I will give it a try.

The bag arrived and I was impressed with the quality and the size assuming the windows fit, actually fits like a glove in the cargo area of the JLU.

Below are pictures of the windows in the bag:

For the back window I removed the bottom bar and then Used a light weight packing blanket rolled up with a couple straps, and since the window was too long I used the rolled up blanket for support so I could fold the back window without it creasing.

Here it is all windows stored in the bag, as you can see it fits perfectly in the cargo area or can be hung or stood up

I also installed the Slipstream cargo security system and the bag fits perfectly

There is even room left over for other items like a Bikini top or ???

Note, there have been many compliants withhe stand up bags and damaging windows like the Mopar bag, when it gets hot out since the bag has to stand up behind the seat the windows can fold/slump when the plastic gets warm and there have been reports of creases in the clear plastic. If you can you want to lay windows down.

I was going to get the mopar bag but didn't want the sagging issues people were experiencing. Also they are too expensive, $50-$75 would be a fair price. I just went to home depot and bought a $10 moving blanket and lay them flat. Then i put the back window rail over in case it tries to blow around, easy and cheap.

I put my back window in first with part of it sticking out then two side windows and fold the extra length over the hard plastic of the side windows to support it like you did with the blanket, your idea looks much less likely to scratch. Also been looking at the slipstream do you have to remove door surround and plastic mounts for the soft top to install slipstream?

My soft top has not been installed yet I set up the bag for the winter storage as I purchased my soft top last OCT so I did not install at that time. With that said you do not need to remove any soft top hardware to install the Slipstream

I am just holding out for a few days of good weather to convince me to swap tops

Also note I have swapped out the rolled up blanket for a swimming noodle that I cut down to the width of the back window

I use the harbor freight moving blankets and I just throw them in the back. Definitely put something between your windows. On a hot day they can stick together. Don't ask me how I know.
