Confirmed the speakers are 4" not 4.5". Jeep is measuring from the center of the ear to get the 4.5". The JBL club 4020 does fit, though a bracket and connections are needed.
Sorry I forgot, do you have Alpine Premium system? Let us know what you get and price. And are you replacing all speakers or just sound bar (B pillar)?

I have the base system. I was planning on upgrading, hence not getting alpine. I plan on replacing all the speakers starting with the roll bar. I'm somewhat conflicted on whether I should get a powered sub (kicker hideaway) or go all out with dual 10" subs.

I'm not an electronics genius but I know it's ideal to use the same ohm rating on the speakers as the head unit. Does anyone know what ohm is stock in the Wrangler set up?

Would anyone happen to know the rear speaker wire colors?

I'm amazed that the base sound system apparently doesn't have a single driver over 4.5 inches. Unless they're using some seriously tricky enclosures, that can't be good for bass output.

I'm assuming the premium sound system doesn't have any speakers (minus the sub) over 4 inches. According to media.fca the speaker sizes in the premium system top out at 4 inches as well. The 4.5 inch includes the woofer plus parts of the plastic ear to the center of the bracket. So all the larger woofers are 4 inches.

Right... that's also somewhat surprising, but it is possible to build a full range system using drivers no larger than 4 inches if they have a subwoofer to back them up. Say the 4" drivers are set to crossover to the sub at 200Hz. That's totally feasible. However if the base system has no sub, you're asking those little 4" drivers to handle all the way down to 20Hz, or down to wherever chrysler decided to set their low pass cutoff to.

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to vehicle sound systems these days, but probably more than most people, and I can't recall having ever encountered a vehicle in this price range where the largest driver was a 4" cone. That's just not much surface area to move air with. But maybe they've worked some miracles with their enclosures and DSP.

Question??? I have the auxiliary switches in my jlu...my question is can I connect the kicker hideaway of alpine pwe-s8 via the switches? If so how do I go about it? I would rather do this,if possible, than go through the firewall.

The JBL Club 4020 and Kenwood kfc-1065s fit but do not sound as good as the stock speakers. The JBL sound much better than the Kenwood. The rep recommended the kenwood and boy was she wrong they sound terrible. Extremely low and no...noda in the bass department. The JBL's are low and not much bass... I guess they require an amp to sound better. I will try the kicker or alpine 4" speakers next.

The sound bar uses some port trickery for the 4” woofers and I’m sure the kick panels do as well.

I have to credit Dreadnought_Leviathan for finding this info.....

His original post: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/after-a-lot-of-digging-premium-audio-details.3155/

"Here are some specs that I found after speaking with a Jeep associate. She suggested I check out the FCA media website to find some details. I even called Alpine and they couldn't give me any specifics.

Premium Sound System
The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler offers two sound systems:
  • Standard eight speakers
    • Two 2.5-inch speakers in the instrument panel
    • Two 4.5-inch front door speakers
    • Two 2.5-inch sound bar speakers
    • Two 4.5-inch sound bar subwoofers
  • Available premium Alpine audio system with nine speakers
    • Two 3.5-inch speakers in the instrument panel
    • Two 4.5-inch front door speakers
    • Two 3.5-inch sound bar speakers
    • Two 4.5-inch sound bar subwoofers
    • One 10-inch quad voice coil subwoofer
Still unsure about the details of the sub. If anyone has information regarding the specifications (impedance, wattage, etc) please post it here.

Here's a link to the site where I found the info:

http://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=18672&mid=102 "
Have the 8.4 premium alpine system. Yeah, the 2 large overhead grill covers on the roll/sports bar each cover 2 smaller speakers. Initially thought six inch speakers were behind there ... today, I verified it by using a flash light. If I were to guess, one 2.5 in and one 4.5 in speaker for each overhead sports bar grill cover.

This Friday I’m having my factory base system replaced. The stock are 2” tweeters and 4 “ woofers/mid. I’m having the shop fab me a 6” components speaker in sound bar and kick panel. I’m adding dual 10” Jl subs and alpine amp. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I just replaced my 4 - 2.5" speakers in my jeep with these kicker speakers and they're amazingly different. I know it says theyre for a dodge caliber and whatnot but theyre full plug and play and are larger speakers and higher quality and screw into the existing holes.

I bought these same speakers and recieved them today. These are way better than the speakers in the slot. Where did you put these exactly?
