Thanks for the reply Gabriel. I'm just barely beyond the 5yr Jeep warranty, but the dealer I purchased from had a lifetime powertrain warranty. I'm going to let it slide, keep an eye on it, and bring it back to the dealer if it gets to a point that I need to do something.
I noticed a few oil spots under the 2018 JL 3.6L today. When I crawled under I noticed the FAD and associated skid plate as well as the upper control arm and a few other areas covered in oil. It appears that this is coming from above. I see a couple potential leaks above the FAD (boxed in red n...
I engineered it myself. I used aluminum plate for the connection brackets simply for ease of install. I've attached my layout drawing with part numbers for the pulleys from McMaster-Carr if you're interested.
Here's a complete Line-X https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/full-external-line-x.60314/
And you would have to isolate the hinges from the body to avoid corrosion as mentioned by DaltonGang
I went with the Dove Gray. I like the lighter color, I'm assuming it keeps it cooler than a dark color when sitting in the sun. It's noticeably cooler when hopping in to head home from work after it's been sitting in the sun all day.
Thank you for the positive feedback.
More surface area is nice, it gives you more options where to put your foot. It's also way more comfortable if you're barefoot.
Yes, the size I made worked perfectly. The first three pictures are from my first go round with a generic Jeep grille and paint that didn't quite match the Sting Gray. The last picture is the updated final foot pads painted black with a JL grille. And the Kickbax mirrors are great, they just...
The 36 month is for all sheet metal panels. The 60 month is for outer-body sheet metal panels only (per attached US warranty). I assume the Canada warranty is identical except for the 160km limit.
Technically it does not cover just bubbling since it specifically says "holes caused by corrosion" but it sounds like most cases of bubbling are being covered.
Aluminum bolts wouldn't be nearly as strong as steel. Also they are threading into steel inside the door, so the aluminum bolts would be the first to corrode, which can never be a good thing.
It's actually 5 years and unlimited miles, and it also only covers it there are holes (see attached). But as stated many people are getting the repair covered even without holes.
No problem, I didn't take it as rude and I didn't mean to sound defensive. It can be difficult to convey meaning in a quick post. I also should have said something in my post about definitely going to to the dealer, or multiple dealers if that's what it takes.
I've got a few small bubbles on...
Unfortunately since you are beyond the 3 year / 36 bumper to bumper warranty, the 5 year / unlimited mile corrosion warranty only covers if there are holes, see attached. Others have had some success, seems to depend on the dealer.
If you have the time when you get this done I would appreciate a new thread with procedure and specific materials and parts used. I actually really like the look of the black hinges on the Sting-Gray. And as luck would have it that is my color.
