Of course, only you can decide. I can tell you that for me, I decided against the Rubicon on my JK and I regretted it.
I did not make the same mistake on my JL.

If you would like to do an all out build, a sport is a great canvas... I've done it (still building it/ could've bought 2 Rubi's); it gets expensive and without the creature comforts.

The deciding factor for me would be:

I want a Jeep to drive on snowy roads in winter and the beach in the summer (limited slip & full time 4wd) Daily driver not going to push the vehicle limits (ever) - Moab (I purchased a Moab for my daughter this past Christmas)

<snip>

Our family has 5 Wranglers 3 Rubi's 1 Moab and a sport.
I guess you wouldn't consider adopting me would you?;):fingerscrossed:

Rubicon.dana44, 4.10 ratio axle gearing, 4:1 transfercase ratio, lockers, electronic sway bar disconnect... 'nuff said.
put that into a sport, and you're way over the cost of a rubicon.
It's not that simple because it depends on what you are going to do with your Jeep (what kind of driving). A Rubicon didn't make any sense to me because I knew I'd be replacing half the stuff that came with a Rubicon. So why buy/finance it in the first place?

Fancy stickers and special dash paint doesn't impress me so for me I'm not going to spend that money.

2018 Jeep JL Rubicon & 2004 Jeep TJ. Previously owned 1993 Cherokee, 1980 CJ5, & M151A2 while in the Military. For the love of Jeeps !
But with LSD you don't have to push a button or be in 4L.
OMG.....your correct !

Heaven forbid the effort and thought required to “push a button”.

YES in your case YOU should have LSD.

But for the rest of us who can see and evaluate the terrain......WE have NO problems ”pushing” a button and enabling the ULTIMATE 4 wheel drive. Rubicon RULES !

I went through the same mental gymnastics when I ordered mine. Even though in some cases the Rubicon options were more than I needed, I preferred the look, liked knowing I had the capabilities when I used them and typically the Rubicon has higher resale value than a Sahara.

Have fun

I went with a Moab. It's my 3rd Jeep, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. Living in Florida, there are few rocks to climb, and I drive a few hours on the highway several times a month to our weekend house in the woods. So a Rubicon was gonna be overkill, but I still felt a Sahara wasn't quite enough. The Moab has everything I want, and all I need to add is a winch and a few more lights. After owning it for a few days, I couldn't be happier. Jeep has really stepped up their game.

Always wondered why Jeep named a model after the Moab, when it could never traverse the MOAB. Sorry, but I think it's a
Hey, future Jeeper here, I was wondering what I should get. I am deciding between a Rubicon, a Moab, or a Rocky Ridge. I understand the Rubicon is the classic capable Jeep which as I plan on taking it to the beach once a weekend I feel like I need something off-road capable, the Moab seems to be the top of the line now and I LOVE the way it looks, and the Rocky Ridge even though it is a little more money, seems to be the best of both worlds, agressive mud tires, huge lift, and just overall COOL looks. Please help me out, money ain't no thang so either or is good. Thanks, can't wait to give everyone a jeep wave!
:CWL::CWL::like:get the MOAB...you sound like someone who would own a MOAB.

Oh Lord. One of these threads again of "what should I do".

All of the posts are wrong. Get what you want under what you can afford.

Now I gotta go take a blood pressure pill because of this.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with the place...

More Overpriced Accessory Bs....

But what he really needs is one of these, what the Gladiator should have been. :giggle:

I have another question, my friend said I could nab a sport s and outfit it to be as capable as a rubicon or a moab for cheaper. My concern is then would I be able to get a Moab or Rubicon sticker to put on the hood because I think it looks so Cool! Thanks.
Please do not put MOAB or RUBICON hood decals on a sport s...you can however like many, put WRANGLER on the hood.

But your friend is correct, you can get a sport s with LSD rear upgrade, that will give you a D44 rear axle and LSD.
I have a sport s, MOABs and RUBICONS are nice and all, but so many things I personally do not need or can do aftermarket for way cheaper than MOPAR is going to charge me.

Leather, LEDs and anything that is Sahara+ specific can be done aftermarket.

Also the MOAB mud tires are not the best for sand, also the offset of the wheels and width are not best for sand

Sport s with LSD rear, AT tires, better offset wheels for a wider stance, some rock rails and Rubicon take off suspension is very capable on sand.

If you want full time 4wd ( useless IMO) you have to go Sahara or MOAB

Don't fall into the trap of fully loaded, IMO it takes away from making the jeep yours, but I like working on my jeep, as opposed to buying it.

I've never heard of Rocky Ridge either so googled up their site. They seem to take stock JL's and mod them. I suspect adding $10-20K to the cost which seems really expensive when all you really need to do is get the Moab and if you really crave a lift pick up the Mopar/Jeep factory lift kit. Granted only 2" but same Fox IPS shocks and all the little brackets and parts that you need to do a painless installation. Might want the Mopar/Fox steering stabilizer upgrade as well...

Something to consider if you are vertically challenged like me, is the higher you go the tougher it will be to get in said Jeep. And if you are married to someone who is vertically challenged (unlike me) you might not hear the end of that mistake.....

Probably cost around $4-5k to do the factory lift installed and wheels and tires depending on how crazy you go.
I had the verticals challenge with my wife so had the dealer swap out the rock sliders for Sahara boards.

If it makes him happy and he thinks it looks cool, why should he not put a MOAB or RUBICON sticker on his hood? Who cares lol.
