True. And the Rubicon does not have full time AWD. It has other stuff (lockers, gears, etc). The issue to me is plain:

Rubicon= best factory OEM rock crawling machine available. And, if you use it this way, there is no equal. But, if you don’t use it that way....
Any other Jeep have has a potentially better value prop than a Rubicon.

Value proposition="to each his own". Most valid argument in the thread frankly

If you don't want or need the features the Rubicon has, why pay for them? Instead Moab owners are paying for options they think they will use/want.

One, I don't own a Rubicon; it's my wife's.

Two....I see nothing wrong with appreciating beauty. Clearly the young woman pictured is quite beautiful by any standard....and no one forced her to take a photo that way.

I will never:
1. Crawl
2. Lift
3. Engage lockers/disconnect sway bar

I will:
1. Drive in mixed conditions, be that tarmac to snow, snow to mud, mud to sand, sand to tarmac, etc.
2. Put KO2s on any Jeep I buy
3. Swap any painted top for a black top
4. Have/put high-rise painted fender flares on any Jeep I buy
5. Remove any hood decals that scream about my small penis, be that RUBICON, MOAB or IHAVEASMALLPENIS (though funny...)

I prefer:
1. A turbo engine
2. Full-time four wheel drive

It turns out that the UK is getting my Jeep: a Rubicon with a 2.2 turbo diesel and Selec-trac.

Do I:
1. Move to Scotland, where they make the best whiskey and redheads, but are impossible to understand?(First choice/wife opposed)
2. Buy a Moab and make even more Rubi-conned mods (flares/tires) to make it look gooder, but live w/o the 2.0 turbo?
3. Buy a Rubi and make even more Moabish mods (wheels, rock rails) to make it look gooder, but live without full-time 4WD?

I know most responses will be douchey, but maybe there's some actual wisdom out there?

For your described usage, a Moab would do fine, but, something to consider. With the Rubicon you get the actual goodies if your situation ever changes. Plus, you might want to consider the resale value of a Rubicon vs other models.

I know, right? But the cost of making the Moab more Rubi-esque, like the K02s and the flares (and the painting of the flares) gives me pause. The gentle(and not so gentle) ribbing on here gives me pause because paying more for less capability, and then paying more just for the looks (though the KO2s aren't looks, the KM2s just suck), gives me pause. A good read the other day,(I forget the publication), the author was mentioning the responsiveness of the AWD in poor conditions and how it helped him avoid a wreck, and then another forum member talking about climbing a hill (blacktop) in poor conditions, and not having the time to shift into 4WH to get up it comfortably. So many real world financial and practical decisions. Saharas sell the best 'round these parts, so a badder looking Sahara seems the best bet resale-wise. but, then again, I may never sell it, so, Hell...

I just want a Rubicon with a full-time 4WD option. i can add the rims and the stepper/sliders later. Is that too much to ask? The Moab is just a little too much country and not enough rock'n'roll. The Rubicon is just a little too much rock'n'roll, and not enough country. Damn, damn, damn, damn...gimme that 3.6 BSG and I'm in.
