If it helps at all, these pictures are of the 315 KO2’s on the Mopar beadlock capable wheels, and the Jeep has teraflex 1” coil spacers. Thought it might be of interest considering it’s the same wheels you will use and has a coil spacer, although .5” shorter than you mentioned.

Rides great and steering feels great without additional modification. I haven’t experienced any rubbing off-road yet.

Btw, talk to a tire engineer. The E rating doesn't have anything to do with sidewall resistance to punctures. It has to do with load bearing capability. The E KO2 in the same size as the C KO2 weigh within a pound of each other. The construction is different. The E has a stiffer ride, but BFG makes no claim for it to be more puncture resistant. That has more to do with the way the tire is constructed and designed. The load rating is strictly to indicate payload capacity, nothing else. Can an E rated tire have stronger sidewalls? Sure, it is possible, but according to a BFG engineer, there's no difference in resistance to sidewall punctures between the two.

The sidewalls on my KO2's held up to sharp rocks in Moab every bit as well as my E rated KM2's I had on my JK. That's not conclusive, but it gives me great confidence in the C rated KO2. I ran it harder in Moab than the KM2'son the JK, too. I took much harder trails in the JL. The tires took everything thrown at them.
Thank you for the explanation, this is really insightful. I guess there is no advantage in a E rated tire for me. I will install a winch, but I'm sure a C rated tire is plenty enough.

i run a 1.5 lift with the ko2s. I got them primarily for MPG/On road/Snow handling. I can't say I've ever looked at them and said "gee, i wish they were .5 inches bigger". I ran 35 km2s on AEV pintler beadlocks on my JK. heavy wheels, MPG suffered, and after i kept breaking stuff on rock gardens, decided to go overland style with my current rig. I have no regrets. C rating, lighter wheels, small lift. Good to go.
Thanks, your Jeep looks great. Do you mind sharing some pics? I'm also curious how the tire would look from a side profile.

Wow, you Jeep is awesome. Those KO2 don't look small at all. Do you happened to have a shot from the side? I'm curious how these tires would look like there. Also, did you stack two sets of 0.5" spacers instead? I couldn't find any 1" spacer lift from Teraflex.

Yep, the Wrangler doesn't have a high payload. The load rating of a C tire is beyond the GVW of the Wrangler, anyway. Not always, but much of the time, E rated tires do have a rougher ride. My E rated KM2's rode rougher than the C rated KO2's, comparing both on the JK. It wasn't terribly worse, but noticeably so. It is just a matter of preference. They all ride pretty well when aired down on the trail, Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if the Duratrac in an E is plenty smooth, though. I've ridden in a couple Jeeps with them and they seem like a nice tire. I was leaning toward them but loved the 285 KO2 and I got a better deal on the 315 KO2, so I went that way.

Here you go. I plan on also installing sliders and rack and still have enough room in the wheel well for that weight/compression.

I thought the E rated KO2s had a good ride... until I replaced them with something else. :surprised: That was an awakening.

I've had both the KO2, and Duratrac, and loved both. The KO2 were on a Grand Cherokee, and the Duratrac were on a Ram. Both great tires, and handled snow/ice very well in addition to capable off road and good road manners. I'm looking at both of them for my JL. I'm equally impressed by both, so I'll be buying which ever has the best price.

As for sizes and weights:
BFG: 315/70/17 = 34.4 at 65 lbs, load C or E
BFG: 35x12.5r17 = 34.5 at 66 lbs, load E
GY: 35x12.5r17 = 34.8 at 68 lbs, load E
GY: 315/70/17 = 34.4 at 61 lbs, load D

As you can see both Goodyear and BFG offer both sizes you mentioned. The overall diameter is only .4" different at the most extreme (we're talking 1/4" of sidewall, which is likely undetectable). The weights are all pretty similar with the BFG settling in the middle at 65 lbs, while the Duratrac are slightly heavier or slightly lighter depending on which size you choose. I got all this data from tirerack, and have attached the following chart for easier comparison.

Thank you very much. The KO2s don't look small with a 1.5" Teraflex lift.

Here’s some side pics that didn’t turn out too good. Yes, I stacked two .5” spacers

KO2s by a very large margin. There is no comparison.

Thank you everyone for you advice and opinion. I think I will go with KO2. BTW, any thought on Falken Wildpeak compare to KO2?

KO2 c-rated or duratrac D rated. both are light weight and should ride nice (I had duratrac E and they rode ok in the past).

I currently have KO2 c-rated 315 with 0.5 spacer lift (teraflex and they look great and ride the same as stock) only thing is the duratracs are actually lighter than the KO2s but otherwise can't go wrong with either
