rubicon side step

Anyone can recommend a good company for adding a side step to a 2019 Rubicon. I know they come with the rock slider I would like something to help get into the Jeep.

Go to the exterior mods forum and look at Ace, LOD and other rock slider/steps. If you want to spend a few bucks ($2k), Rockslide engineering has power step/Sliders that drop a step automatically when you open the door.

I like my Ace sliders. They are very low-key, provide a nice step and are decent rock sliders. They let you keep your existing Rubicon rock sliders on which covers the ugly pinch weld.

Good news/bad news. The good news is its a 2 bolt per side install for the 2-door and a 3 bolt per side install for the 4-door. My install went without a hitch.

The bad news is some people (maybe many people?) have snapped the body bolts off during the removal process. The front bolts are especially difficult because they are installed with high strength thread locker (red locktite) and its impossible to get direct heat on them to break down the thread locker. See this thread (there are several more).

I used a propane torch on the front bolts and and air impact wrench and had no issues. But I’m a sample of one.

As another option, here is Iron Cross’s step. I wanted more protection from thrown rocks than the Ace sliders gave. These hide the pinch seam well, though you can still see it a bit at the front and back.
