So first of all thank you all for you concern about my heated seats.

Unfortunately I am pretty sure I have an issue.

On my way it was an almost unbearably cold 39 degrees. I turned both the driver and passenger side heated seats on high. After about 5 minutes the driver side turned off and would not turn back on the whole way home. The passenger side stayed on the whole time. So WTF?

I guess a trip to the dealer (or more likely several trips) is in my future.

I would agree there's an issue - it's probably overheating or shorting out and has circuitry to shut it down if such a problem occurs. At least it didn't start on fire like the Ford seatbelts!

Hmm - also a Sport S here and mine don't ever tun off. However after a long while they do "cool" down to a warm setting but the lights stay on 3. That to me is 100% normal. Drove a little over an hour to Denver in 20 something weather when I noticed that. Couldn't get the fire roasting hot selection until I turned them off for a bit then back on. For them actually shutting off and not wanting to turn back on tells me it's probably a bad sensor thinking it's over heating prematurely. Mine have never shut off completely.

Mine feels extremely hot with the cloth seats so it's not just a leather thing either. Maybe Jeep changed the heater mid year to a different vendor?? Then again the feeling of hot/cold differ amongst people so there is that to take into consideration too.

Mine don't get that hot.
I test drove a 2.0 JLUR while waiting for my order. 2 minutes into the test drive I had to shut the heated seats and steering wheel off bc I could smell my own flesh cooking. Not the hot a$$ I’m in to

I had this happen, but only once. My wife was in the passenger seat and the heated seat turned off and wouldn’t turn back on during the drive home. It has not happened since.

Mine does this with just the drivers seat. I can cycle yge ignition and it will work again. This has been an issue with jeep seats going back to 2012. Not only wranglers but other jeeps as well as they may share components between models. Jeep is supposedly coming up with s fix.

Mine have mysteriously started working properly. So maybe the cycle is:

- Works for 5-15 minutes then turns itself off for a month
- Works properly for a month
- Spontaneously combusts

I'll let you know in a few weeks. Or if I stop posting you'll know why.

It seems to have a sensor for shutting off when it gets too hot overall. I had this happen about an hour in. It won’t turn back on until you turn the car off (at least it didn’t for me). Check the fuses too. After that, I pulled the heated seats fuse and re-seated it. Never kicked off again. Could be a coincidence, but it worked.

I’ve noticed my steering wheel cycles. It will get almost too hot, then cool down to just warm, then gets hot again later. It’s never shut off, so I just assume it’s working normally.

Anything from Jeep Cares regarding this...

My steering wheel can blister you with heat from the top (12 o'clock position) one day, from the bottom (anywhere from 4 to 8 o'clock position) a different day, and sometimes be tepid all over.

Although my friend in Raleigh sent me a pic of the 3" snow you guys recently got. From my experience living there I'm sure it's still about the equivalent of a nuclear strike there.
It's more like a low grade zombie apocalypse. 80% of people here freak out, schools close, businesses shutdown, the grocery stores run out of bread and milk (b/c apparently french toast is the only way to survive these conditions). The other 20% shake their heads and enjoy the day off.

I didn't get the cold weather package because I have heated clothing. New version will have a thermostat.

I had reseated all the fuses...most were not fully seated... but to no avail. It still randomly shuts off and will not turn on till I reset the Jeep...

Others?

No change for the seat randomly shutting off... at the dealer today getting the rear glass defroster fixed again.... will see what they say about the seat.
