So my heated seats turn on and work great. Then after a while they turn themselves off.

I checked the manual and it doesn't say anything about it. Is it just me or is this normal?

The seats in my Grand Cherokee turn themselves off after a while. I've noticed that on multiple road trips. I think that's normal.

Not normal for the JL. I have had mine on for hours during multiple road trips. They have never turned down a level or off.

I noticed this in other vehicles but not on this Jeep. I noticed they stay on forever.

However, it could be the setting. I leave mine on the lowest setting which is plenty warm. So if it's on a higher setting maybe they shut off automatically after a while.

I don't have my Jeep yet but in my other cars, they do after a while. Especially if you're running them on full blast

When set to high, the heating elements turn off automatically after approximately one hour.

Thanks to all. I'm in the South so I set them on high and leave them there if it is below 50 degrees outside!

They seem to shut off a little quick - after about 25 minutes I guess. But sounds like it's not something to worry about.

I'm in CO and even if it's 20 degrees I'm melting with those seats on high and I have Bartact seat covers. These seats get VERY hot.

Although my friend in Raleigh sent me a pic of the 3" snow you guys recently got. From my experience living there I'm sure it's still about the equivalent of a nuclear strike there.

Mine don't get that hot.

It might make a difference between cloth and leather? I see that @ThirtyOne and @1quick1 have Sport S's (so cloth seats) - I have leather (have had on other vehicles as well, never heated cloth) and after about 10 minutes on high it feels like it's burning me (slight exaggeration maybe). I have yet to leave them on long enough to see if they'll timeout.

Yes they do. I've had many Mopars with heated seats, and these are the warmest I've had. I love it! I always hated when I had on a bunch of layers, to fight the cold, and it prevented the heated seats from being very effective. With the JL seats set on 3 (high) I can actually feel the warmth through layered cloths. In general, I'll usually leave the seats on low or medium, but there are times when high is needed. As Rob mentioned, though I have leather seats so that may be the key.

And in line with the question. All of my other vehicles with heated seats (Rams, Chargers, and a Grand Cherokee), turned off after a while. I never timed it, but I'd assume 15-30 minutes maybe. However, I don't think I've noticed my JL turning them off yet. Of course I haven't used them on high much yet so I guess I'll have to pay attention. I don't think it's something to worry about if they do, since all my other heated seats turned off after a while.

After a particularly cold and rainy sail one day, I hoped in wet, and turned on my seat warmers. They kicked off after 5 minutes, I pushed the button again and they turned right off. Evidently there is a safety feature that turns them off if you get them wet.

So I was just in my Jeep on a short drive between buildings and the heated seats turned themselves off after less than 10 minutes. Once they turn off they won't turn back on.

It is brutally cold today for NC (about 45 degrees). I wonder if it turns off when it reaches a certain temp? I'm going to play with it a little more.

The Jeep was nice and warm and the seat was still warm so I'm not sure it is an issue. But if it is I want to go ahead and deal with it.

Hey that makes sense! I do have cloth seats. They are not as sensitive to temps in general as leather so that would probably make sense.

I'm in the south (leather), and the highest setting gets me to roasted buns pretty quickly. I don't keep the bun-warmer on long enough to see if it shuts off automatically. The lowest setting warms 'em up just enough, but too long and I'm on the dark-side of the toaster setting. I'm already brown enough.
