Today I had a very odd thing happen. I pulled into a parking spot and stopped. When I went to pull back out, I got a message on the gauges screen "Vehicle not in Park". When I went to put it in reverse, it moved 6" and then "Park" engaged and it just stopped. No matter what gear I tried, even neutral, it would not change or budge. I put it back in park and shut the vehicle off and tried again, no go.

It wasn't until I put it in manual shift mode that I was actually able to move. I'm guessing I have a sensor going bad or some other issue with a gear or shift sensor. Anyone else have similar issues?

Not sure if this is your issue or not. I’ve had mine go into auto park because a door wasn’t shut tight. I thought it was broken but it’s a safety protocol on the JL. The video below has a parking scenario possibly like yours.

I was going to start a post about this, but my jeep has had the same issue only that i dont have proximity package on my rubicon and the check engine light comes on. Also i get a message saying "shift to P and then select a gear" and when i do it either does it again and/or says stability control requires service.

It would usually happen when im on a trail but it started doing it on the road and it eventually go into some kind of limp mode where it took a while to get up to speed. Then i got the message saying the transmission needs to be serviced and now its being looked at hoping i dont recieve any more problems because ive had nothing but issues in these last two months ive owned it. Its currently on its third visit to the dealer

Apparently this is a safety feature. If you are not buckled (I'm told) or if the Jeep senses a door is not completely shut it will prevent you from driving this way. At least that is what I have seen posted.

I didnt order it i went in to see if there was a possibility i could trade in a leased Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and get a JL Rubicon. Luckily i was able to get off without owing anything and i walked off the lot with my JL.

Well at first somehow the car was low in power steering fluid. Didnt realize this till a week later when the steering was getting kind of stiff and popped the hood. Whether this was the dealers fault, i dont know. Considering it was a new car i figured something like this couldnt of passed the dealer inspection when they turned it in to me. I took it in and they filled it with fluid and saw no leaks.

1,000 miles later being at 1,5xx miles the power steering hose made a mess under the car. It developed a leak where the rubber hose meets the metal hose. They decided to change bother hoses (pressure & return) and they were on back order. And when they recieved them a week and a half later they tested them and saw they were still getting a little wet so they swapped out the pump as well and put a new one in.

Throughout this time i had the transmission issue, but only when out off roading on a trail. I figured it was me not putting it into 4hi or 4lo well enough but i was wrong. Worst part is that it got seriously worst when i was 300 miles from home in the middle of the trail. And it eventually got worst happening on the highway. First thing i did when i got back home was take it in

Yesterday i recieved my car back, they told me they had to datalog the code from the computer and send it in to an engineer. The engineer sent back a reflash (can-bus) or software update and that it should be good.

I arrived home and luckily the engine was avle to be turned off but everything electronically did not want to turn off. The shifter indicator was all orange rather than the gear selected. And this is what kept displaying on the cluster

I even disconnected both terninal cables from the battery and it was still on. How? I dont know. I called jeep and their best opinion was to leave the car on and let it run out of battery. Right after i hung up with jeep the car somehow it returned to normal other than the check engine light and stability control light.

When you called JeepCares, did you receive a case number? If you're planning to continue working with the dealer to get these concerns resolved, let me know. I am available via direct message and would be happy to review that case.

Its at the dealer, hoping it gets repaired. I did not recieve a case number, they said if it happened once again to give them a call to try to get me a case manager. Unfortunately due to work and getting the car towed to the dealer i havent had time to give them a call.

Thanks for clarifying. I believe I just answered your message and advised you do have a case in our system. If you have any additional questions about it, let me know there.

I had the same issue. At first it would not start after a long drive. Gave me all the same errors, including service transmission, service traction control, blind spot indicators not working, etc. I had to wait 5 mins and then it restarted with no issues. This happened 3x.

The last time it happened I was moving. I was out on backroads in 4h. I left the dirt for the pavement and after shifting to 2h the transmission error came up. When I stopped the jeep would not move until I shifted back to park then drive. I also had traction control warnings and blindspot error.

I took it to the dealer and they found a loose wire. They corrected it and so far I haven't had an issue but it is a weekend car and I haven't had it out that much since the repair.

Unfortunately I dont have the paperwork to tell you what was repaired. Since it was warranty work they said they had to write it up and would send me a copy in the mail. As soon as I get it I will post.

Looks like you were able to drive it at least, i would turn off my engine but the electronics wouldnt want to turn off. I spoke to the dealer yesterday and they changed the valve body and they said they found a loose/faulty connection. They're testing the vehicle to make sure that the same issue doesnt happen again. Ill find out next week, and hopefully no more issues

So what happen if ur moving at a good clip and need to open the door.....is it going to park itself at 40 plus mph and destroy the drivetrain?
