NFPA stats indicate 77% of automobile fires in 2017 were in vehicles 10 years or older. The average age of an EV on the road today is ~3.6 years.

So, older ICE are far more likely to catch fire.. But so are older, bigger, and more rapidly charged Lithium batteries.

Any ICE/EV fire rate statistic that doesn't control for vehicle age is essentially useless. The articles that promote the stats generally make age disclaimers, the stats pulled from them and parroted on the Internet generally don't include proper context.
And there's no vehicle made that's fire prone in its first 5 years period. Not the 4xe or ICE rigs or EVs. Even controlled for age, EVs are certainly not more of a fire risk than gas rigs. Trying to extrapolate that data is hard to do, but ICE vehicles are more fire prone as they are potentially flammable from the rear mounted tank all the way to the engine, including the oil and transmission fluid. The EVs only fire source is the battery and it has built in safety measures that fuel tanks, lines, etc simply don't.

Where is this graphic from? I couldn't find numbers that look anything like that anywhere? What age adjustment was made? The EV and gas numbers look similar to the other stats I've found but that hybrid number is massive. As stated earlier, most sites lump hybrids in with EVs and the numbers are still ~50x lower than ICE.

It's from some sort of insurance company, "AutoinsuranceEZ" (shown in the upper, right corner of the graphic). It's possible to find a couple online articles about their numbers. It's not clear it has age adjustment. And, especially when hybrids and BEVs are split, there really should be some adjustment for price category (i.e. shitboxes probably have much higher fire frequency for a variety of reasons). I just thought the hybrid numbers were interesting.

Why even bother using generic apple to orange vehicle fire stats, when we can simply do apple to apple.

Which Wrangler is more likely to go up in flames when parked.

I got me money on the 4xe as a fire bug by a mile.
