I am trying to locate some documents that lets me know how Chrysler Capital calculated the residual value of my leased Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe. My residual value is approx. $32K but the actual value of our 4xes is much, much less (around $20K or so). Because of the battery recall issue I have been told that I can't buy my Jeep which I had planned to do so I did not worry about the mileage, and I am over on it.
In planning my discussions with Jeep's Lemon claim representative, I would like to be prepared to have part of the discussion re their residual calculation and the substantial loss of value that the 4xe's have faced.
Does anyone know where this info can be found. The below web site seems be only for CC and it can't be accessed.?
Also has anyone had discussions with Jeep's Lemon law claim representatives?
Thanks all.

Nope. Return the vehicle and pay the mileage fee. The market value of these vehicles have tanked hard. Chrysler Capital insures these vehicles against this very specific situation, so they aren't willing to negotiate residue.

If you're nearing end of lease you're also well beyond most lemon law criteria. It'd be hard to go down that route.

For your situation i would agree with the advice to just return it and pay the extra mileage, but I'm curious about your comment that they won't even let you buy it because of the recall.

That is new. Chrysler Capital is refusing to sell it? I didn't think the bank had any restrictions on doing a lease buyout despite the stop sale to the dealers.

I'm in California and the Lemon Law here allows me to file for specifically a loss of value. Will just keep plugging along and maybe one of the class actions suits will help all of us. Hard to believe that Stellantis allowed this to happen to us loyal Jeep owners.

I was researching the same thing a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it looks like if you want to keep it the best thing to do is to let the lease expire, turn it in, and then buy it back once it is listed on the lot as a used vehicle. It will never be worth the original residual and they do not negotiate this price.

There is a current restriction on selling 4xes as they have all been removed from dealerships. Even if I wanted to do a purchase at the end of the lease I am prevented to do so. The only thing they will let me do is turn the Jeep in at the end of the lease.

Call the leasing company and ask them to send you a payoff. It doesn't need to go through a dealership.

Residual value should be about 66% of MSRP.

Yesterday, I saw a 2023 Rubicon 4Xe for sale locally at a new car dealer, 30k miles, excellent condition, $28k. What a dismal value, makes you wonder what was given for a trade value.

There is no way I would even consider keeping a lease, or buying a used one. The hit on resale not only affects 4Xe, but the entire Wrangler line as well. As those low information customers who are used car shopping, have little to no idea what the difference is between a 4Xe and other Wranglers. And the sales staff sure as hell aren't going to explain it to them.

Another reason to leave the 4Xe behind is that there will be an ever dwindling supply of parts to repair them. In 5 years, most of them will be off the road due to repair expense, and/or lack of parts.

Where is this information coming from? I have not heard of an official Stop Sell Order. If there is one, I’ll be filing a lawsuit against FCA when I go to buy my new wrangler in the next week or so.

The residual value of the 4xe have at least $7,500 built into it.

$20K or so, works out to be as follows.

Real value is market value at the low end of $25,000 + $7,500 government subsidies = $32,500.

Here ya go. There’s more out there but you get the drift. You can go to the NHSTA website and check your VIN. As for lawyering up, you’ll be in a long, long line.

I know very little about leasing much less about residual value. Help me understand how the $7500 subsidy factors in. Wasn’t that benefit already collected by the lessor or lessee and factored into the (lower) payments at the time of the original deal?

That must be a California thing. My 4xe was sold off Carvana in about a week.

The way I am seeing it is that they are no longer receiving/selling new Wrangler 4xe’s but are allowed to resell used ones.
