So I am thinking of getting something else (Santa Cruz) and here is the values I am getting for my 2023 Sahara (power top, cold weather pack, 66k MSRP):

Hyundi Dealer: 30k
Autonation: 32k
Private offers (31, 30.5 and 34k)
Carvana $32,800
Carmax range $31-40k
Edmunds Trade In 33,721.

I mean, all of those appraisals are more than what I would pay for a 4XE, take the highest and run. Just wait until you see the value plummet when you buy a Santa Cruz. Keep in mind, nobody paid (or should have paid) MSRP for a 4XE with the incentives.

Man, you are a masochist. Get beat up on a 4Xe, then trade for a Santa Cruz? You'll get beat up all over again when you want to trade out of it in a year.

EVs and PHEVs, with a few rare exceptions, loose value quickly, even more so than luxury cars. Not to mention that we are in a market where no one is buying much of anything due to runaway inflation. Car lots are filled with new and used units that aren't selling.

If you really want out of the Jeep you have, find something being offered wit the most money off in rebates and dealer cash. Then you will still be upside down, after they roll your negative equity into the deal.

Get a Maverick instead, I flipped the crap out of them and they still hold their value like nothing (non Toyota) I’ve ever seen.

Losing 36ish thousand in one year is a hard to pill to swallow. I would not trade this in on a Hyundai, you'll be kicking yourself twice. You need to ride this out for a few years and maybe break even when you trade.

Let's see...

Notoriously unreliable vehicle - Check
New units being sold for 20k under MSRP - Check
Has had multiple recalls for fires (Including an active one) - Check
PHEV/BEV - Check

These things are being traded in left and right. Their used value has tanked hard in the last year or two because of the above. The main thing is the massive cuts under MSRP that's hurting you, as the average 4XE buyer has zero idea about their reliability issues. PHEV/BEVs in general also tank in value, it's just a thing. MSRP of these things should be mid 40s fully loaded. They're so overpriced at MSRP it's crazy.

I never understood this one. They're a FWD truck, it's so silly. It's just they're so damn cheap and the small truck segment is completely barren. They sell like hotcakes. If anything I hope it makes dodge bring back the Dakota. We need to bring back small/mid sized trucks again. The F150/Silverado/Ram 1500 is outrageously large.

Goodness. I was offered $35K for my Rubicon 4XE...I should have taken it an run. This car is such a travesty. MIne is on a recall...and I refuse to drive it until it is fixed. In the meantime..."In 2023, Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis, received a total compensation package of €36.5 million ($39 million), which was a 56% increase from 2022" Absolutely mind boggling.

Yeah, its the perfect storm againts the 4XE. Even without recalls and tons of units on the lots, EVs/PHEVs are worthless after a few years. Look at 2020/2021 Taycans. I am dumping my 4XE lease in a few months. I'm sure Jeep will loose money on that truck. Buy back is north of 54k CAD. If I where to buy it back now and sell it, I might be able to get 40-44k for it...

Sure, but its an other example of the governments screwing up the market. Jeep got tons of sales because of incentives from the authorities, but now they will loose money on many lease returns...
