The quickest path for the dealer to get the money .
Yeah, and worst path is for the customer to get a pre delivery rear lube job when it is not necessary

I wouldn’t take a swapped windshield. There’s a chance the paint won’t match exactly and there’s a chance the trimming won’t be aligned as it was st the factory when the wind held and body cams together.

Do you seriously have no idea how an assembly line works. different parts can be painted weeks even months apart. the paint will match no matter what vehicle. These thing are designed to be put together quickly, parts will line as they were intended to put together. they are not custom made.

Personally I would refuse taking delivery and order a new one or find something on the lot they could work with you on.

If it were a mechanical or tech component, it'd be a different story. If it affected how it drives, the warranty, or was a lesser quality windshield, there'd be some room to argue here. It's a brand new windshield that's the same color. Swapping it out, making sure it fits properly and the paint matches, touching up the paint on the torx bolts from the swap, and honoring the vehicle's original warranty still keeps the vehicle as new as when it came off the truck.

It's a windshield, fellas. It'll be fine.

All correct , and also , maybe , the dealer employee will not know as much as the factory installer , and screw something up . The dealer will push this because the dealer wants the money as fast as possible ; so the dealer will tell the employee to finish it up as fast as possible . Very bad idea to be rushed .

When I was able to wrench , even though I was careful , sometimes I'd screw something up . I'd trust the factory over a dealer employee any day . Maybe the dealer employee has never done this before . Maybe the dealer employee is too proud to ask his fellow mechanics about something . Maybe the dealer employee is a moron . Who knows ?

The windshield and its frame are a simple bolt-on part. There is no alignment to be done. It's not like the OP is going to pay for the work that they are doing, he is simply going to buy his jeep, dent-free, at the price he already agreed to. There's nothing wrong with that. If you would rather have your jeep be dented upon delivery, feel free to buy one and have the dealer smack it around.

Humorous . Except I'd live with the dent if the dealer offered me an extra $5,000. discount . Every Jeep will end with dents , but not every buyer will end up with a $5,000. reward for their damage .

You live in a fantasy world.
I agree completely . I was frequently told that by my superiors in Army Infantry , but they were not always upset by my suggestions ; occasionally they came around .

Maybe you don't know WTF you're talking about and none of these things are true. Who knows?

I'm insanely critical of FCA and Jeep dealerships, too, but let them try to make it right before assuming this is going to be a complete and total clusterfuck. Jesus Christ.

I once had a very nice piece of special order furniture damaged during delivery- just like a car it took about 6 weeks to be built.

Since it was on the back side the store gave me a simple choice. Get a new one built and wait 6 more weeks or they’d knock $700 off of it (I don’t remember the percentage just the amount.)

This is what’s done in business. Get a new one or take a discount for your troubles. The end.

You forgot to specify how many tries do they get ? The customer is not required to go along with any of their tries . That dent on the window frame means they damaged the customer's Jeep . Now they want his money . I'd walk .

THEY didn't damage his jeep. The transport company did. Why would the dealership eat that cost?
