Loved my 2005 LJ. As the saying goes, never should have sold it.

I bought one new. Threw on a 2 inch puck lift, a winch, put on 33x10.50R15 BFG Mud Terrains and ran the Rubicon all within a month of purchase. Had to use the hi-lift Jack a couple of times on the Rubicon when I turtled but other than that it did great. Like everyone else, I wish I still had it.

I took a few pics on the Rubicon but they all became corrupted except this one:
It looks so tiny next to that tree :)

They really do look lowered without a lift. This is mine back in 2006, stock ride height. Back then, to get any real clearance for 33 inch tires you needed a four inch lift, I think the OE Goodyears were 31's.

LJ is my favorite Wrangler.

Longer wheelbase helped offroad, but it is still a two door.

Summary vs TJ:
The Jeep LJ (Long Jeep) is a longer-wheelbase variant of the TJ Wrangler, with a wheelbase of 103.4 inches compared to the TJ's 93.4 inches, resulting in an overall length increase of approximately 12 to 15 inches. The LJ measures around 167 to 171.7 inches in length, while the TJ is 155.4 inches long. This extended length provides the LJ with 2 inches more rear legroom and an additional 13 inches of cargo space behind the rear seat when compared to the standard TJ. Both models share the same overall width of 66.7 inches, though the LJ's width can extend to 68.2 inches depending on the configuration. The LJ also features a higher towing capacity of 3,500 lbs compared to the TJ's 1,000 lbs for the 4-cylinder and 2,000 lbs for the 6-cylinder engine.

Rubicon at wife's work, stock. It looks lowered and the back is long? Is it an optically allusion?

Stock as when he bought it. Top may be different tho

That there my friend is the Jeep TJ Limo Edition. Just kidding! I have a friend that purchased hers brand new in 2005. Right now it has less than 85K miles on it. It's a blast to drive and feels tons lighter than a 4 door JK.

She told him she likes it and if he decides to sell, she'll keep it in the jeep family 😁

You are correct. TJ/ LJ Rubis were all stock 31" tires. They also had different springs with a stiffer spring rate if i recall correctly. Everyone said they were lift springs but they were not. Any hopes of clearing 33's you needed 3.5-4" lift.

LJ's are fantastic. LJ on long arm and 35's. I had a couple friends with that set up and they were unstoppable. Longer than the CJ/YJ/TJ so they're more stable, still smaller than the JK/JLU so they're lighter and more maneuverable in the rocks and tight situations. Great middle ground. I heard a rumor on an old Jeep Forum once upon a time there was an interview with an engineer that said one of the reasons the JK/JL 2 door got bigger is cause they wanted to try to get it closer to the LJ.
