A few months ago we took the back roads, which are hilly for Texas, on a couple hundred mile trip. I couldn't keep it at 70 with cruise control in 6th with the hills. It was either run in 5th, constantly shift, or just let it drop 10 mph below with every hill.

Edit: Oh yeah, I typically don't even go for 6th until at least 75mph.
what gears and tires are you running?

Mine's on 37's and 5.13s.

I did an axle swap on my sport…was told they were stock rubicon axles with 4.10’s….turns out they were 392 axles
Chris, you got ripped off. Can you go back to the seller and have them make this right? Who fraudulently sold you those axles??

I find that out there my cruise control just can't keep up. i'll set it to 75 and any incline at all the engine can't handle it and I slow down to 60 and have to downshift.
Turbo diesel for the win.

I was in a similar boat. Cooper STT Pro MT were my solution. I've ran them for about a year and six months or so with two different lifts. I'm not going back 35's. It's my daily driver and I just came back from a 2000 mile road trip to CO. The caveat is I have 4.56 gearing though. Tires are floating but, Ring and Pinons (may or may not) last a life time.

if you really feel the need for 37's might look at either the KO2 or Mickey Thompson baja legend EXP...both light and both run pretty small for 37's...I have 4.10's and have gone back and forth so many times lol....

It was a marketplace buy and I got them from California (I’m in VA). … I reached out to the guy several times and asked him to make it right and he never responded :/

I'm told with a 4:1 you can just put the Jeep into 1st and it will actually crawl up things without touching the gas pedal. That will be a first for me to see that happen.
But your's will only do this in reverse. :)

I was thinking of the ko2’s those are the ones that are about 68lbs. How small do they run? Wanna co-sign my dumb idea!?!?! lol

I'm running 37s on Sport axles (D44 rear, D30 front) but re-geared to 4.88. My Jeep struggles sometimes and should really have 5.13s but I can't re-gear again until I upgrade the front axle to a D44. I can't imagine having 3.73 gears.

If you have an auto I'd say 4.88 is fine. If you have a manual I'd re-gear to 5.13.
Do you have an auto or manual? And I knew there was a reason why I like your jeep more than mine! 2dr on 37s bellísimo! And u til today I didn’t know 4.88s would work in our D30!

My 37" KO2s were about 35.5. Noticeably smaller than my 37" Coopers at 36.5. With the KO2s my Jeep did not feel sluggish at all with the 4.88s. My gas mileage was much better and I never had issues with the tires rubbing on the fender liners.

Mine is a manual. So far no issues with the 4.88 on the D30. From everything I've read/been told there's no room in there to go 5.13s though. Would have to move to a D44 to make that happen.

Yeah I need to go 4.88s because I never get out of 4th on the highway when cruising at speed(60/65). I also live in a small town with 2 naval bases and a huge shipyard, we have 1 highway with 2 lanes on either side and all the employees seem to leave at the same time making my 12 mile commute home take 45 minutes! So the 3.45s aren’t too bad considering. But when heading to the trail 5th is almost out of the question unless I’m goin down hill.
