If I had gotten the hard top, I would have just gotten a good sun shade. Switching tops looks to be a giant pia.
Going on vacation second half of August. When I com back, I think I’ll take your advice, since I do have a sunshade. Only thing is we have been having so much rain, it would be nice to pull the soft top on if needed.

Apparently quadratec is starting to ship pre-ordered soft tops on August 9th. Hopefully mine arrives at the same time as my jeep.

Ordered: Black 2dr JL Rubicon, Manual, Premium Soft Top
I've been 2 weeks with my unicorn, after a wait of 5 months. Today was the first day with PST windows out and top fully back. I have the sunburn to prove it. Grew up with several Jeeps ('90s, '00s) that my dad owned and wow has Jeep come a long way. This is my first Jeep and here's my 2 week review. These are just the things that stand out to me now.

The good:
1. Great look/feel. The Rubi has a much taller stance than I expected or is shown in photos, which is a good thing. I am guilty of walking into the garage or around parking lots just to get extra views.
2. 6MT is legit. My last three pedal was an E46 BMW coupe and this transmission is every bit as sporty and smooth, if not more. Hill assist takes some getting used to--I stalled several times expecting the roll back haha.
3. PST is quiet and works in so many configurations. We will see how durable it is with daily use (my Rubi is garaged at home and work).
4. Cloth seats--comfy and I seem to care less about them than I would leather (another good thing).
5. This community is great.

The OK:
1. Highway steering. I don't think I have the issues some are experiencing and I get this is a 'Jeep thing'. I think my steering is improving with miles and/or experience. I'm still scared hitting bumps or passing 18 wheelers because of the sway, but when I point it between the lines it stays there for the most part. Otherwise, great turning radius and around town steering.

The bad:
1. I'm disappointed in the Alpine system, but not because I think it's sub-par. So far, I've gotten the 2 rattles that most are complaining of: a) Charlie Brown teacher voice/voice talking into a soup can from under the steering wheel (worse with talking than music) and b) bass rattle in sound bar that improves with pulling down on the rear of the sound bar. I know Jeeps rattle, but it's annoying I can't enjoy my new $1200 speakers because of this. I'm not someone who can fix things like this, so I'm left waiting for a fix that I can show to the dealer.
2. Hot air bursts from passenger side with A/C on. Appears to be 'normal' based on what I've read here.

My Rubi is my daily driver and it's certainly capable of that task. Overall, I love driving it--just not so much at >65 MPH or with the radio turned up loud.

Boy its thin for rear cargo cover solutions for 2 door. I already accidentally ripped off the cubby door loading stuff..

That weak arse cubby flap should not be in Wrangler. The back should be no carpet, with a rubber no slip mat that drains out floor. the rear cubby flap lockable steel with rubber top that blends into rubber mat on top.

I might just cut a sheet of plywood cut to fit and glue outdoor carpet to it. Maybe I will start with some out door carpeting cut to fit. Hmmm, or maybe search amazon for rubber sheeting/mats of some sort (omg, searching for rubber sheeting gets you into bed wetting real fast, here come targeted ads for adult diapers for 6 months)

First of all I would like to welcome to the Jeep community and the experience of Jeep ownership!
As to the negative things you are experiencing I would let the dealer check those out especially the steering. Mine is a dream to drive! My Alpine system is awesome, the beast car audio system I have had to date, and I have had a lot of new vehicles before. The AC is awesome and the best I have ever had as well. I have zero play in the wheel and if anyone has any there is something definitely wrong. I did experience this once with a new Wrangler once and I returned to the dealer after picking it up and driving about ten miles. I had nearly 1/8 turn of play in the wheel. They checked it out and said it was normal so I drove the 45 miles home playing catch up with the wheel and trying to keep the Jeep pointed where I wanted. The next day I went to a local shop and they tightened one bolt in the steering shaft and the play was gone completely. Thruway driving in my new Rubi at 70 MPH is a pleasure as well. Keep in mind with the short wheelbase, lack of aerodynamics, stiffer suspension (especially on the Rubi) and larger tires it will handle different than any car or SUV or truck. And be prepared when hitting a pothole while in a corner! Remember the Wrangler is built as an off road vehicle that can be driven on the road, whereas the Cherokee is built as a road vehicle that can be driven off road. Also have you checked your tire pressure. They ship over inflated so as not to flatten out when strapped down for shipping. The dealer should adjust this but mine didn't and thanks to this forum I checked mine to find it at 45psi. 37psi is where it should be. Lowering it does seem to have made a little difference in the ride. Keep us posted as you tally up the miles, and I hope all goes well for you!

Weekend or during week? We should meet up for a coffee or beer. It is probably 45 minutes to an hour from me, a nice ride

Fun fact....Jeeps are made in Toledo, next to an Ottawa River. I live in Ottawa, Ontario (the capital of Canada), which is on a much bigger Ottawa River. And I live next to the river.
Ha! It’s a fact! You were born to drive a Jeep!

Which one did you order, Ryan, an May I ask reason for choice? I’m trying to decide which soft top to get myself. I know right now there are t too many choices yet.

Oh, dear god, Garry, but you’re funny! But you are right about it. One thing someone pointed out to me earlier in forum is to be careful with some of the rubber stuff, some can melt in heat and stick to Jeep. But nevertheless I like the idea. Surprised there isn’t one out yet.

That would be cool. I am coming out Thursday afternoon, which would probably be the best day as I shoot with the staff on Friday which can be a long day as we work out the bugs in all the stages and Saturday and Sunday I will be working from 0700 on and generally a quick shower dinner and right to bed at the end of the day. We break down the stages at the end on Sunday have the awards and then I head home. You are welcome to stop by the club but eye and ear protection are required on the range.
