Best and Easiest Sun Shade?

I run the Spiderweb shade on my ’24. It requires adding a spacer to the bolts along the outside of the headliner, which complicates the install a bit, but I like the finished product. I keep it on with the hardtop and have no issues accessing the releases for the freedom panels. I don’t know how it compares to Alien or JTops, as this is the only brand I’ve used (bungee’s on the JK too).

I had a spiderweb shade in my Jk way back when. I liked the JTops connections but if it is janky with Velcro for the connection I’m a bit leery. I would really like to see it.

Same here, I've been running the spiderweb on my 24 for almost a year now. The spacer seems to get the job done, but it does mean the screws aren't as deep so I worried about that, but so far, so good. I have the two piece and just leave it on.

Also have the spiderweb on a 24. More work on the install but worth it. Clear of the airbags and allows for airbag friendly grab handles (gpca) front and rear.

Don’t have a pic of it open. But in the pic you can see the aluminum nubs that go on the factory screws. Cord from the shade wraps around it like a post. Bonus that there was enough screw length to also attach the handle. I’m a svelte 275 and they support me.

It definitely looks like it would be much easier to reach the side latches with that one piece Spiderweb sunshade. Thank you for posting pictures.

I was finally able to get a reply, it looks like JTopsUSA was acquired by CoverKing. Here is a video they provided for the installation on 24+ Models:



As stated there is no access to the side latches when using the hard top over it, so it seems a bit tricky.

late to the party but I just installed the spiderweb shade 2 piece on my 24 2 weeks ago. I didn’t run one on my 20 but ran their old version in my JKs.

you didn’t have trouble getting the flips and the main hinge releases back in place when you put your hard top back on? I had a hell if a time getting to the latches and the flip handles with the shade in place, and I have smallish hands. The JK version was easy because you just had to remove a couple of bungees.
Also, did you guys/gals have to use the 3M protective strip they give for the rear upper bar to keep the shade from rubbing the paint? My shade doesn’t even come close to hitting the painted area. I double checked that install was correct making sure I had the nubs in the right locations. It looks correct based on thru pictures as well. I was thrown off that the rear portion actually covers part of the soundbar. I thought maybe I needed to move each nub back a position but then double checked against their directions and pictures to for I had it right.

I currently have the JTops shade. It is extremely hard to get my latches latched with it on. The passenger rear corner won’t stay latched. In order to get the freedom panels released, I managed to use a fork spanner wrench to turn the latches in the corners. I have on order a Spiderweb rear shade. I’m still debating on ordering the Spiderweb front. It sounds like you have the same problem with the latches with the Spiderweb. If you didn’t have to drop the windshield for installation, I’d just take the front portion off when I put my freedom panels back on.

I have the one piece, but I assume it’s the same around the Freedom Top hinges. I don’t have any issues getting mine to latch. I pull down the front to get the hinged latch in place and then just push the slide latches into place through the shade top.

I did use the protective tape (and added some more) - mine for sure rubs the rear cross member of the roll cage, so the tape should help protect the paint there. I added some at the corners as well to help where the bungee strap lies against the roll cage.

Just put on a JTops sunshade that I recently ordered. I was very disappointed in the fit and instructions. Now that they are owned by coverking they don't provide a video on where to place the Velcro and the customer service is a joke.

Apologies for the delayed response, got rid of that rig about a year ago. I only pulled the freedom panel off a couple of times but remember contorting my fingers to release the latches but it wasn't bad.

I now have the SOT with hothead liner and sunshade now, they also have great customer service, thought I had an issue and the owner called me back within an hour on a Sunday.
