I cannot find a good pic of what the seats look like in 4xe with seats folded flat! I know the battery keeps it from being completely flat, but curious about the transition from cargo to seatback.

What does the 'hump' look like and are the seatbacks angled when folded or is there a step then it's flat? Do you have to fold the actual cushions up too then fold forward seats? Just trying to figure out how much less usuable, if at all, the interior is when loading up for camping. Thanks!

These are from a 2024 Rubicon X, though I expect trim doesn't affect this much.

Exactly what I was looking for! So seat cushions fold forward using space behind front ones. And seat backs fold flat but there is a good 6" step to it. Definitely less room, but probably not a deal breaker.

What happens if you fold seats without folding up bottom cushions? Or can you not do that?

Thanks again for the pics!

The seat backs can be leaned forward without moving the bottoms, but not laid flat.

if you want a flat surface they make a storage platform that brings it level. This is from wheelsfeels and was the one needing assemble. The pictures show my packing blanket as I just finished install. That will get covered in an indoor-outdoor low nap carpet

Here's what it looks like with the seat folded down without flipping the cushions up first. You can force it down a little more with something heavy on it and it'll compress the cushion.

The rear seat of the 4XE seems to be the same as the standard models. I delivered a soft top in its original box with my "old" Rubicon and well in my buyer's 4XE, the box had trouble fitting because the backrest is not flat, there is the battery underneath.

Thanks for this! Answered my other question. More angle than I expected, but looks usable for large boxes / bulky items. I'd definitely have to pull cushions up for camping gear though...

Now the tough decision is deciding if I want to gamble on the reliability of a 4xe. They are just so damn cheap right now ($14k off!) and Willys version has everything I need with no reason to mod (yeah, yeah, say that every time!). When I'm not camping my daily drive is about 20mi, so around LA would be mostly electric!

The 4xe is fantastic. Mine is 9 months old with 5100 miles, I've put gas in 4 times. It rides great and has plenty of power. With rear seats folded down I think the step is more like 3 or 4 inches, not as high as 6". I loaded it up to the gills for a trip to Vermont, still got about 22 mpg after the electric power was used up, and the temperature outside as low as -8 degrees. Keep in mind you'll probably see a 15-20% hit on milage and range with the Willys compared to the Sahara I've got. Traded a Rubicon 4xe when I bought it last year, the Sahara can cover as much as 30 miles with one electric charge where Rubicon max was maybe 23. Good luck with any new Jeep you get.

It's possible things have changed for the 24's, but I doubt it. I built a platform for the rear cargo area of mine. As I recall the vertical dimension was 6.25".

Since I'm currently at the dealership having my battery recall performed, I found an unlocked '23 model on the lot. Attached is a pic of the cargo area step next to the 10" sub.

I don't remember it being that high in the '24 I have, or my dopey dog would have fallen off into the way back. I'll take a look when I get home, I've been wrong before....

Thanks for the pic... I'll assume the rear seat bottoms are folded forward here? Looks a little too flat!

Yes, I tumbled the seat bottom forward, then lowered the seat back.

One problem with this in comparison to "lesser Jeeps" ;) is that the tumbled seat bottom takes up room that could be used for sleeping in the back. The regular JLU's allow you to slide the front seat forward & rotate the front seat back toward the dash which maximizes potential sleeping room. We can't do that on our 4xe's.
