Hello all

I did a search and wasn't impressed with the results.

Question is, anyone on here in the Jacksonville Florida, Orange Park, Middleburg area that knows of a good 4x4 shop that they trust and can do alignments?

Thanks.

Do you have a lift? Adjustable control arms? Adjustable track bars? If not there's no need for an alignment. They can not align anything as there are no adjustable components. Any shop can adjust the drag link and tie rod, you can do that in the driveway with a tape measure.

Yes, full lift, adjustable everything. (But this was done before and alignment done afterwards)

Issue, I installed MC tie rod and drag link yesterday. I tried my best on install to measure everything out. But it's a difficult by yourself with just a tape measure. Going by the way it drives, I am pretty sure I didn't get it right. (Drag link, steering wheel good) Toe is not correct I believe.

I have seen the toe adjusted with the plates that attach to the wheels (which I don't have) I can give it a shot with a tape in the drive way.

Can you give me a little more specifics on how to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Without plates and by yourself it can be difficult. I usually get the wife or my son to hold the tape measure with me. My tires have a pretty defined casting line down the center so it's fairly easy to get accurate measurements front and rear. I shoot for 1/4" tow in on 39s and it seems to drive well. The plates do make it easier to do solo.

Thanks man, and everyone.

I had to get a little creative doing it by myself. Fortunately the cooper STT Pros have some nice high tread lugs. I have some good tape and I taped the tape measure to the lug on one side and took my measurements. It took like 25 times but I got it really close.

Now it drives like it should.

Thanks all.

Zach, not necessarily true; please correct me if I’m wrong. One can use caster and camber shims in the absence of adjustable components. That’s how my Jeep was aligned the last time.

I think you can shim the ball joints for camber, but that shouldn't ever need to be done unless you bent your axle. I don't think anyone JL will accept shims for caster.

Did you check out this place? They aren't about just restoring old jeeps. They do alignments.

Thank you

I will check them out. The annoying part is after I installed the lift and set everything up as suggested, I had an alignment done and the tech. Made a minor toe adjustment. 5 min. On the rack and it cost me $120.

Thank you though. I am going to make sure it continues to drive ok, and go from there. Haven't ruled out an alignment.

Don’t know if you can get to the Daytona area the Daytona garage at the Jeep dealer in the auto mall adjusted my lower control arms and aligned my 2dr JL and did a great job call and talk to Carl. They did a good job for me and I’m really particular. šŸ˜Ž

Zach, my axle definitely was not bent, and I don’t remember whether caster or camber was shimmed. I will look in my Jeep for the paperwork today. If my axle was bent, I’m certain the shop owner would have told me; I have a very high degree of trust in him, and it would have been on the paperwork too. He knows how meticulous I am with my Jeep maintenance, and how knowledgeable I am of my Jeep, thanks to good folks like you.šŸ™‚

The stock suspension has no capability to adjust caster unless you change control arms. Remember, caster is changed by rotating the axle, changing the pinion angle. This is done by changing the length of the control arms.

The camber can be adjusted by way of the upper balljoint bushing in the knuckle.
