Man, people are way overthinking it. I wave because it's the friendly thing to do. If they wave back, cool. If they don't, that's cool too. The world (and in particular our country) needs more positivity. We've got a 50 page thread on here about people who can't stand that their off road pages are only on their gauge pod and not on their uconnect as well, another 30 pages lamenting that ESS is enabled by default to save them gas. Those guys need all the waves they can get.

I feel conflicted every time I see another Wrangler. “Will he think I’m a douche if I wave, or will he think I’m a douche if I don’t?”
LOL. I think the exact same thing. Also, I try to wait to the very last second and if they wave first, I wave super fast because I might be too late.

Interesting Post.

With regards to waving at other motorcyclists: I don't wave, I nod instead. But I do acknowledge them. I don't wave because I'm a novice, so for this reason I keep both my hands on the bars as well.

Once I get my Jeep, I will probably wave at other Jeepers if not on the freeway. And if I see other jeepers in rural area/country towns, I'll definitely wave, as I was taught to do this anyway (regardless of what ride you're in).

It's just upbringing.
Something tells me that you probably won’t be waving in the fashion that he said was the only one that deserves a return wave :cwl:

Absolutely correct! I'm not that type of female.

If u wanna wave...wave. If you dont, that's fine too.

When I was a kid, we didn't have the internet or fancy online vehicle forums where we could anonymously insult one another. We etched 1's and 0's in the dirt with a stick, AND WE LIKED IT!
Youngster!

We didn't even have sticks, we had to use our *fingers*...

And dirt? Hell, dirt hadn't been invented yet, we had to scratch it into rocks with our fingers...

I do draw the line at people with the stupid “Jeep wave stickers”.
Ah crap! Lol. Mind you I wave too. I’ve been waving at every CJ, YJ, TJ, JK and JL that i see for 30 years. 17 of which are in the area I live now and I think I am slowly training people to wave back. Lol. Also, if someone waves to me first, regardless of what they are driving, I wave back because that is just the Canadian thing to do.

Have never had that happen before, with either my Jeep or my Harley.
Here in Arkansas, if you're on a two-lane (or less!) road, expect to get waved at!
Not everyone gets the whole Jeep wave thing. Don't give up!

I wave to all Wranglers since I got mine. My biggest problem is resisting the urge when I'm driving my other "car". :giggle:

Heal of the palm must remain in contact with the top of the steering wheel at all times during the wave execution procedure. Any amount of fingers quickly raised and then lowered from this position is an acceptable and proper Jeep Wave (except of course just the middle finger). Actual waiving gesticulations should always be avoided as it creates awkward confusion and is generally creepy between total strangers...

The exception is when doors are off. In this configuration, it is entirely acceptable to extend the entire left arm straight out of the Jeep, but making sure that the hand is below shoulder level. The lower the arm the “cooler” the wave. However, use caution with this technique on single lane roads as the oncoming vehicle could easily take your entire arm clean off.

Just wave at the Jeep. The driver brings in all kinds of variables that you’ll never understand. It’s called a Jeep Wave... just wave at the machine you admire and don’t worry about anything else!:captain: :jk::flag:

I wave at every Wrangler, and some XJs. I get a wave back about 50% of the time.

I don't care, though. I'm waving at the Jeep, not the driver.
