I see that the Tazer JL can allow a front camera to be enabled. Has anyone purchased a front camera and mounted it? Where and how did you mount the camera? Where did you get the camera and how does it get hooked up to the LCD screen?

Thanks in advance.

Born of my own ignorance, I respectfully seek to understand the purpose of such a camera.

While I completely get the utility of a camera that records, so as to document accidents and theft, having installed a dual dash cam myself, I am missing something about this setup.

Is the goal to ultimately record its content, like to have memories of a much enjoyed off roading adventure?

How about for trail use? Think about having a front camera aimed slightly down and then having the ability to see what lies ahead when you are going up a steep incline or over a steep hill. With the jeep pointed up to the sky it's difficult to see what may lay ahead of the Jeep.

I assume they are referencing a camera on the front bumper that would allow the driver to see what is directly in front of them, which cannot be seen by the driver while sitting in the vehicle. This would be useful when encountering obstacles. Its really no different than the rear camera which I find to be extremely helpful on vehicles even though I could still back my vehicle up without it.

As to where to put it, there is probably a good way to drill a hole in the bumper and run the wiring through the bumper into the engine compartment where it can get bundled with the other wires running into the dash. I have no clue if that would actually work, but it makes sense in my head

Better visibility off-road.

Got a buddy with a front camera tied into his JK radio. Yes, off-road it provides valuable vision for front tire placement. In fact he has a rear one too and can switch between them on the radio screen. Pretty cool. Sure that hack is out there somewhere and will be for the JL soon enough.

I suggest getting hold of ELON MUSK and have him design a totally SELF DRIVING JEEP so you won't have to do anything--

That way you can sue somebody if anything happens-

Whatever

I'm thinking of placing one somewhere behind the front axle so that I can not only see tire placement, but also see if the pumpkin is going to hit something. ZAutomotive was going to have a camera and cable for sale. I see they have the cable, but still no camera. I'm sure there are a zillion suitable cameras out there, I'd like to just buy it as one package, straight from them.

They said they were going to put a camera/cable package together, but maybe they are too busy. What cameras are out there that would work well in this application?

One of the things about the front camera
-Explore the road when you exit from a side street to a main road
-When you want to line up in tight spaces

Can you share some info on this? Did you use the cable I posted above? Where does it (the cable) plug in?
Yeah I used that video cable that is sold by Z Automotive. You have plug the electrical tails into the factory harness. Hook me up with your email thru private message and I'll send over the instructions in pdf. that I got from Z Automotive. I bout this camera on amazon. Just plug the yellow rca cable into this video cable. Route it thru your firewall and connect to the camera installed where ever you mount it. It also has a power and ground that you have to connect. The Tazer JL software integrates it.

How much of the radio stack did you have to disassemble to plug the video cable from Z Automotive into the head unit?
