How much of the radio stack did you have to disassemble to plug the video cable from Z Automotive into the head unit?
Not sure what you mean by the radio stack, but once you get the screen off, unplug all the colored cables. Release the main harness by clicking the lock and pull straight out. Get a small flat head screwdriver and carefully pop off the red plastic piece and plug the video cable terminals in. Yellow wire into pin 24 and black wire into pin 25. Be careful with that red plastic piece, its real fragile.

I guess I was referring to the entire touch screen section. I assume Z provides more instructions, I'm unclear how to get the screen off?

Oh ok, yeah you have to take the whole screen apart. Its not that hard at all. Dm me your email and I'll send you the instructions on how to install the cable from Z Automotive.

I added a front camera that I purchased off Amazon and connected it to a Z Automotive video cable. It works flawlessly with the Tazer JL. Here are some pictures.

Looks great and great info! Seems easy enough. Can you please share how you actually switch to view your front camera vs. the stock backup cam? Is there a button on the touch screen that allows you to switch between both cameras? Can you switch while in reverse and also while in the camera “app”? Much appreciate the info!

Once you turn on the function in the Tazer JL, there will be an icon in the settings that says "Cargo Cam." Press that button and it will come up. You can go from rear camera view to front camera view. Cool feature on the Tazer JL.

How is the resolution on that camera? This Uconnect has a really nice clear screen and I want to get a camera that takes advantage of it.

Thanks!
The resolution is decent. Definitely not as clear as the rear camera. I'm sure you could find a better camera, but I was really looking for the connection that the camera has. It plugs straight into Z Automotive video cable.

That one looks pretty nice.

Gotta love the descriptions... LoL!

  • Backup camera with IP69K waterproof IP rate. It used strict waterproof skill and great waterproof materials, so it waterproof function is better than IP67 and IP68, you absolutely don't need to worry about water, fog or mist inside

Jeep Trackhawk, AEV Prospector XL, Viper TA2.0, Dodge Demon, etc etc etc...
I'm going to do this as soon as the Jeep arrives and my bumpers get here.
One word of caution, whatever camera you get make sure it can be used as a front facing camera, back up cameras are mirror images. Use that on the front and everything will be backwards.

I installed one this week with help from other posts on the board. Search for my post on "Things done TO my jeep"

Have you guys seen the Range Rover Evoques under car camera? It is friggen awesome as you then know exactly where the tyres are on the ground below.
Hers is a link.

Anyone know of an aftermarket solution to create the under car view??? I want to put it on the new JL when I get it.

That's how I have planned to do mine, if I can figure out a good way to bring the wire into the cab.
