Anyone running a 38 inch spare???

I just purchased my lift and headlocks along with 38 inch nitto’s. I don’t usually run a spare but I kind of want too however I’m not sure I can with out big this tire is .. I know I can do it with a Rusty’s Offroad tire carrier but I think it might get in the way or look stupid. Anyone have a spare they run that is that big?

Buddy runs a 38” spare on his 392XR with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement.

38 Inch Ridge Grapplers on a Terra Flex Alpha HD carrier. 392XR (I think all XR's) have the Mopar relocation brackets as well. No issues with it on road or off. It does take up quite a bit of the "view" in the rear view mirror.

38” Nitto Trail Grapplers on KMC Tank beadlocks. I have a full spare mounted to the Teraflex Alpha HD carrier and hinge. Even at the higher mounting point the spare *barely* touches the OEM steel bumper. So far zero issues and the Teraflex hinge is beef.

I ran a 38" spare for years with a Mopar tailgate reinforcement and Teraflex Alpha HD tire carrier. It fit perfectly with the Rubicon steel bumper. It's heavy and pretty much blocks all rear view but doable. I prefer a heavy spare on a bumper/frame mounted tire carrier but the matching rear Poison Spyder bumper has an integrated hitch but does not have a tow rating.

I changed my setup because I want to tow and the spare gets in my way.

Here's mine on 39s and the Cavfab carrier. It's a big donut on the tailgate, but better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

My wife's JLUR has a 37" spare on a Motobilt carrier, and will have a 40 on it once the 37's wear out.
