So while I was scrolling through I saw, "Battery Protection Mode" for ESS Screen. However I'm not getting any warning lights and everything seems ok. ESS isn't working but in my experience it rarely turned off the engine anyways.

That is not an error message and it is one of the reasons why ESS does not turn on like if there is load on the battery because of AC etc.
That is functioning normally.

Service Start/Stop problem is fixed

Here is the diagnosis and fix:

Curious if this has still worked....Iā€™m still having similar issue...dealer thinks it is due to a faulty door switch but Iā€™m not to confident

After that repair, I havenā€™t had the error message come up.

I just discovered this issue today as well. Had the battery protection message in the start/stop menu. Drove 30+ miles with mulitpal full stops with radio, lights,ac off and the Jeep never turned off. I got home and let the Jeep sit for a while then went back out to see if I could get it to start working. After cycling the Ignition a few times the message turned to start stop not ready. Drove it around the block and it started working correctly.

I am encountering a similar issue again as well, I have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they keep saying they cannot duplicate and giving me the vehicle back. This weekend I was up on a trail in Big Bear and it started acting up and shuddering during the trail run. The fan would not stop blowing, the radio shut off, it was saying the hood was open and that it was on battery protection mode, and it also kept saying the passenger airbag was on for some reason as well along with the service stop/start system. Luckily i was able to get it going and dropped it off at the dealer. I did plug in my OBD II scanner before I dropped it off to see what codes popped up and it gave me 4 of them: C0700, P0174, p0171 and p062A.

I have contacted FCA as I have an open Claim with them, but they arent being really helpful. I have videos and photos to show them, but they dont even want to hear my side of whats going on unitl the dealer takes a look at the vehicle.

Hi Novanotch,
We are glad to hear you are back at the dealer and that you are in contact with our customer care teams. We would like to look into your case further to see if there is any assistance we can offer. Please send us a PM with your VIN. Also, have you had the chance to show the videos to your dealer?

Julie,

I will send a PM shortly. I tried showing them to the service rep, but he didn't really want to look at them, said it wasn't necessary.

Hey,

I received a similar alert message stating the "ESS Stopped/ESS Unavailable" in my info window.
The Jeep also seemed to display some hestitation when I applied the throttle. I shut the engine and restarted, only for the same message and behaviour to return. Searches of Jeep Forums turned up suggestions like i) check hood is secured properly, ii) check for loose battery terminal connections, and iii) ensure all fuses in the fuse box are seated properly.
I performed all three checks and noted perhaps a couple fuses benefited by being tapped down more firmly, and now I no longer seem to have the previously mentioned issue with the ESS system. Day two now and all still seems good.
Thought I'd share.

That's good news, hopefully it goes away for you. Mine unfortunately is still at the dealership trying to be fixed for the 6th time. Been almost 40 days at the dealer now if i include every visit... sad...:(

I'm very sorry to hear learn you're continuing to experience concerns with your Wrangler. I checked the case I opened about a month ago and see it was reopened. I'll be sure to note your discontent and feedback within it for further review. If you need any additional assistance, don't hesitate to send me a message in our previous message thread.

Picked up my Jeep today.. drove it home from dealership (was a 350 mile trip) at just under 200 miles on the odometer I received this same error. I am in the process of checking all the above issues.Unfortunately I am going to be forced to take it to a another dealership where I live..

I got the message for the first time today. StRt/stop was working fine until this evening driving home from work. I noticed each time that it didnā€™t kick in. I scrolled through the menu and saw the message. I just passed 1000 miles today. Iā€™ll check the hood, battery and fuses and see where itā€™s at tomorrow.

So I just checked everything. As others mentioned, there were several fuses that seemed like they needed to be firmly seated. There were also a couple that seemed loose no matter what. It said the engine temp was too low for the start/stop system to be enabled, but I wasnā€™t gonna take it for a spin tonight. Weā€™ll see how it goes tomorrow. In a side note, even the cover for the fuse panel doesnā€™t seem to fit very snugly and I donā€™t think it would keep water out if water sprayed up in the engine compartment...
