I started getting the ess not available- battery charging message about 2 years in. I took it in under warranty thinking it was the aux battery. It turned out to be the main battery. It's a 2018 and I just replaced the aux battery last weekend. FYI.... Pulling the fender flare makes it really easy. And the aux-14 battery is very hard to find right now, at least around here (Cypress, Tx area)

Oh, when the aux did finally go, the Jeep was totally dead. Drove it the day before and not even a dome light the next morning.

Hmm wonder if my AutoStart is causing my issue. I am getting ready to install the genesis kit, though the Group 25 AGMs are hard to find here in Alaska lately at a price point I can live with.
Joe,

Don't misinterpret what I was describing. My issue for a non-functioning ESS was an unknown parasitic draw, due to an improperly wired satellite receiver, which was draining my AUX battery to the point where the engine controller thought it to be unusable. Hence no ESS.

Once I repaired the wiring, removed it from direct battery to switched ignition, all my ESS problems just went away. Now ESS works well everytime I stop.

I know, many on this forum will say I'm an idiot. It was working properly when it didn't work at all. Oh well...

No i didn’t, was told they found a parasitic draw in my jeep but could not locate it. Then decided my Star Connector was bad. But it got me thinking maybe my aftermarket auto start (drone) is the cause of the Aux battery issues. .
