But I really think I want the lockable room behind the rear seat that a Wrangler has. And I am very intrigued about the power and mpg of the new engine......the search continues for now, getting closer.
I would think you can get a new Wrangler within your budget.

It will take some time but chew through this thread :

Jeepgirl mentions a PHX based company within it also but plenty of other ideas there.

Thank you! I will read it. But my pricing on Jeep.com has me way over $40k even with a 5% discount. And I'm hearing 3-6 months, which is not an option for me. I will still check it out though, thanks again...

Food for thought, not sure if it's just our area or if it's nationwide, but lead times right now for orders are just a bit shorter for our store in particular, more like 8-12 weeks (manual trans is the exception right now with the recall). Not a big cut in time, but every bit counts, when you're waiting for your perfect Jeep!

Yes indeed, thank you!

Of course! Let me know if I can help with anything, I can always get a window sticker for any pre-owned Jeep you may be looking at, if you're having any trouble getting ahold of one, or just to answer questions :)

A quick question that is related...so as I get ready to list my old 2015 Wrangler for sale, I pulled up the build sheet and it has a 3.73 gear ratio and Dana 44s (Unlimited Sport X)....was this just done in that year? I thought those were desired upgrades.....

I have a 2018 3.6 with 44k miles and zero issues. I personally would avoid the turbo since it’s unproven and turbo reliability from FCA scares me.

It’s been five years for the 2.0T, with no significant complaints, even on high mile 2018s, and was used in other vehicles for years before that. How many years does it take to become “proven?”

Technically, eight years. Alfa got the 2.0T engine beginning in 2016; our Jeeps, two years later.

James, I would think by now that the prevailing opinion is that it’s now “proven.”

I'm on my 4th Wrangler currently and getting ready to step up into a JL. Random thoughts:

1) I'm assuming I should stay away from the 2018 to avoid any first year problems?
2) I'd like to go with the 2.0 L engine unless someone says they really suck...?
3) I see some Willy's models available.....what would the differences be between them and a Sahara?
4) Would you ever buy a "BuyBack'? One of the dealers has several of them at (of course) decent prices....
5) I am finding lots of Sahara trim models that I like. Any thoughts on them?

TIA!
ours is a 2.0 Willys that has been great. for our needs, it's perfect. not looking to turn it into a monster machine (might put slightly larger tires on it, but nothing crazy). the Willys isn't nearly as posh as the Rubicon, but it's what we wanted......basic Jeep, but not as basic as a Wrangler Sport. if you do plan on building it up more that "basic" I would go with the Rubicon. am also please with the 2.0 engine so far.

Agreed. I added my pinch of clarity (8 years vs. 5) because I do believe the 2.0T is a safe bet.
With modern synthetic oils, etc, and cooling systems, and also the performance history, I have high confidence in the entire powertrain - even though it’s DI. The engine, after all, is designed for the higher pressures of a twin-spooled blower, whereas the 3.6 is not. Adding a turbo or supercharger to a 3.6 would be a HUGE mistake.
