I was sitting admiring my JL when I really started to examine the Shift Knob - now I know where all the design $$ went - look at that beautiful thing - the Range light shining and reflecting off it's magnificent knurled metallic body with coordinated Red detent lever and ergonomic handle - it's just incredible - 4 door OR 2 Door -

Both shifters feel substantial: the automatic transmission and the Selec-Trac. As does the steering wheel, too.

Interestingly, opening and closing the tailgate feels light but solid at the same time.

Not a 2 door. That's an original WWII Jeep and it doesn't have doors. It's a real Jeep unlike all of ours.

As does most of the switch gear, but wtf is w/ the seat back latches, those feel like they will snap at any time

I used to love the 2 door and when the 4 door came out, I thought it was disgusting. Now my feelings are flipped. I don't like the 2 door anymore, Unlimited is the only way to go.

was looking at your shifter. you know how to upgrade it. Remove the audo feature and make it manual.

It's an old Willys, so I can give that a pass. What some of you might not know is the Gladiator actually has a Gladiator on the shift knob.
