Wondering how much weight the rear hinges can handle with a larger tire mounted on the carrier.
I put four Yokohama Geolandar A/T 4 285/75/17 on stock rims which gave the JL a natural 1.5" lift, all for
making sure I can get through the snow in the Winter. I use the rear swing door 2 or 3 times a day and
sometimes wonder how much stress a spare tire puts on the swing door hinges. Thinking of putting
an Artec tire delete on the back. The Yokohama tires weigh 60 lbs. each as opposed to the 32 lb.
Michelin tires. I don't even know if the larger tires would clear the bumper indentation. I'm just curious
if anyone knows how much weight the rear hinges can handle, and/or if anyone has seen any complications
from stress, such as sagging, or misalignment, or any opinion on just not carrying a spare.
