When these JLs first came out this was common and seemed to often relate to defrost heat being focused there, then people came up with defroster vents or using scrabble tiles etc to even out defroster flow more evenly.
Not sure if that could be a factor here.
Right, and I have done some of the defroster plugs. Good point, I’ll have to go look to see if I have too much openness at the origin of the crack.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s ridiculous any of them crack so easily, let alone the gorilla glass ones

Added Iphone charger. Ran wire behind dash from media hub usb. Of course now my carplay wireless adapter has a hard time figuring if it wants to turn on or not when plugged into usb 2 port. That's a tomorrow job to figure out.

Figured a way for the usb 2 port with the carplay wireless adapter to work with the new charger.

Brief recap: my usb 2 port would not function when I used an extension cable behind dash panel, see above, to wire the new charger into usb 1 ports connector. If I leave the usb port connections as they are then my carplay wireless adapter will work in usb 2 and I can plug the charger into usb 1 in the media hub and both work fine but i'm left with the unsightly wire.... not acceptable.

My solution was to remove the media hub usb port/ circuit board and relocate it up behind the radio where I could retain the original factory connections while plugging the charger into the usb port. No more unsightly wire..... very acceptable. With the media hubs door still in place you wouldn't know the ports have been moved. And the best part about this fix is it's 100% reversible if I sell or just decide to put it back to factory set up.

Yeah I can't blame Quick it's like they stopped skating in the 2nd, maybe high on 5 to 1.....
I agree that’s what I saw too. Seems like they get to excited when they’re up. Glad they managed to pull this one off.

Stupid question… this doesn’t work well when you’re trying to fish through a steel/magnetic tube though, right?
yea no it would not work very well. Luckily this tire carrier is all aluminum so it was great!

Yep, I'm familiar with Genright quality first hand. I have their tube fenders on another jeep now and their liners.
I have quick disconnects on wiring already as well.

I researched the carrier and bumpers back a few years ago and been kicking myself since. PS really was a letdown from the early years quality level. They were a fantastic small shop company then they sold when the owner (name?) sold out due to illness.

Seeing yours has really got me back on it. I hate removing high dollar crap. Will also be dumping the bumper and going with the Genright aluminum as well.

Thanks!
oh nice! I’m waiting when I get a winch to pull the trigger on getting both front and rear Genright bumpers.
For now, I’m still happy with the steel Rubicon bumpers.

Added the Seat Jacker Shorties to the driver’s side. I’m 6’2”. Will have to drive around to see how they do on longer drives but first impression is the seat bottom tilt back feels good. Only concern is the top of my head is a pretty close to the B pillar sound bar if I recline the seat a bit.

And for those that were wondering if the the Jackers are compatible with the Epic Kraken air inflation system… Yep!

So after changing out the Aux battery on my JLUR and still dealing with charging issues/quirks (thanks Jeep - the most ridiculous implementation and placement of a marginal design idea), I decided I needed a more reliable system for normal running and for powering my accessories.

Decided to only do this once, so yesterday I installed the Genesis dual battery/Gen 3 power hub. The video () is 28 minutes, but you'll need a little more time...haha..!! This is a really easy install as Genesis has done a great job with their video instructions. Super happy and great fit.

My RSE slider/steps I thinks drain my battery where my Aux buttons don’t work for a bit. I’m wondering if the genesis dual kit will fix that or if the Cascadia hood solar panel is a better bet

Today since it was almost 70, I took the freedom panels off (dont have a jack yet for the rest). I also removed all the doors. Wife and I go for a drive up at Blackwater just to cruise around a bit. On the way back home, we see this bad ass looking black Jeep. Had the best custom wheels we have ever seen. The Jeep had big red horns around where the top corners of the windshield. And had Brat written on the hood. We pull up beside her at the light and yell out, "Nice Jeep!" After saying yours too, a duck comes flying in and lands in my wife's lap. As we are laughing about it, my wife tries to get her one. The light turns red and we all start going down the road. My wife tried to toss it to her, (in the last 9 months she has had surgery on both shoulders) and the duck goes in front of the other lady's Jeep. We saw her stop as she turned into a parking lot and believe she grabbed the duck lol. It was all around a hilarious moment IMHO. To me was the best duck story lol. I figured I would share.

I was having the issue where some accessories wired to my Aux switches didn't work and was getting the message that they were unavailable while the AUX battery was recharging. I believe that the Gen 3 power hub will manage that issue better, also I can run accessories from both batteries, with the engine running or not (goes to secondary battery without running the main down). The dual kit was a better fit for me.

Same issue I’m trying to fix. Let me know if you ever see the issue again. I probably won’t address it until the next major sale (Black Friday) but will try to hold solar panel route to act as a trickle charge to offset the RSE sliders constantly draining battery
