So I changed out the stock wheels on my 22 Sahara. The new spare wheel is deeper than the stock one and whenever I put the Jeep in reverse, the collision warning system detects the rim and sounds the alarm. Is there a way around this or a way to disable the system ?

Thanks,
Ford (yeah, Ford drives a Jeep?)

I had the same issue with aftermarket wheels and 35" tires. I initially added just the Mopar 82215356AB Tailgate Reinforcement Kit to help with the extra weight but it tripped the parking sensors, same as you.

When I added the Mopar 82215355 Oversize Spare Tire Carrier it solved the problem. The tire carrier moves the center of the spare mount up to accommodate the larger diameter tire but it also has the effect of getting the tire out of view of the parking sensors.

You can hit the big ""P" on your dash to shut it off.

Also, and hear me out cause it makes no sense, rotate the valve stem 180°. The camera is also part of those rear sensors as well. Try the rotate trick first though.

Had the same issue with mine. Ditched the factory carrier and installed the Teraflex Alpha HD. Problem solved - for about a month. Issue is back and for the life of me can't figure out why it was gone for weeks, and now it's not.

I am going to try this trick. I took of the tire and put it on again, and have had this problem since. This might explain why! Thanks so much!

One option is an aftermarket tire carrier that will let you position the tire/wheel closer to the gate.
