So still looking for a Tascadaro. First one didn't work out. So I found a Rubicon with a v6 and a 6 speed. Wife like a manual but hasn't had one in a while. Any issues?

Loved mine was great on and off highway. With stock Rubicon it was cruise in 6th gear all the way on highways. Only reason got rid of it wanted diesel.

For those with no issues, what is your mileage?

Be sure to test drive it and, if it feels sloppy, pass. I had a 2019 JLUR with the 6-speed and the clutch failed completed at 12k miles. Shop accused me of not knowing how to drive a manual, but I've been driving manual transmissions since 1987.

Took them a week before they could get it on a lift to check it. I'm no mechanic and I didn't take notes, but the shop said that the clutch plate was shot on one side but 100% fine the other and that they'd never seen anything like it. Jeep fixed it under warranty, but it never shifted correctly after that.

I traded it for a 2021 JLR with manual transmission. The new one shifted great--wife even commented on it. So I think the older model was flawed out of the factory. So I'd recommend the six speed, but drive it first to see how you feel about it.

I think the 2019 was the one that had 50k recalls on bad clutches! ?

I could be wrong though and mixing it with 2018.

Love my manual, but the clutch is one of the worst I've ever used. It's extremely light and there's no feeling of "bite" when you're engaging a gear. Made it really hard to get used to. Haven't stalled a manual vehicle since I was 10 years old, but this one was constant during the learning process lol. (Took me about 1500 miles to really figure it out) My only other complaint is reverse gear just seems really tall. Have to slip the clutch a lot during most reversing activities.

That said, now that I'm used to it, I'm just a sucker for manuals and I love it. I'll take the worst manual in the world over an auto just because that's who I am. :)

I really love mine. The only issue I have is that with the rubicon rear gear ratio, I have to really wind it up to get up to highway speeds quickly on a few roads where traffic is doing 60 mph or I’ll get creamed.

Well that is out the question. It sold before I got a chance to discuss buying

I vaguely remember a recall after I had mine fixed. Would the recall repair show up on a CarFax report? Given my experiences, I'd avoid a vehicle that had the recall repair done.

I could be wrong though and mixing it with 2018.

My first 2018 model was a bit sloppy more so from the tune vs the transmission. I ordered a 2022 and the clutch is perfect with alot less rev hang!. Part of the issue I think was from the tune that made the rev's stay high to burn the excess gas for emission purpose. Now the rev hang is at a minimum to almost non existing, it's a joy to drive.

The first thing that struck me about my 2022 is the near complete lack of rev rang.

It seems every single modern manual vehicle will rev hang to one degree or another. My daily is a Subaru that rev hangs between 1st and 2nd so badly that it's actually funny.

To compensate, I've trained myself to just slow down my shifts enough that revs match. So when I got this JL I couldn't believe the lack of rev hang. For the first week I had to train myself to shift fast enough that RPMs didn't drop *below* where they should be for the next gear. It simply works like a normal manual vehicle is supposed to. Amazing!
