Hey y’all, newcomer here. Ordered my jlrud in April and got my ship date for Tuesday. Pretty excited. Want to get it lifted and add wheels and tires right out of the gate. I’ve been doing research and the more I dive down the rabbit hole the more my head spins. I’ve decided to go with the mopar 2” lift (since it won’t void any warranties) and black rhino warlord wheels. My trouble is with tires. I know I want 35s but trying to figure out which ones is making my head spin. I am in the Florida area so lots of trails with sandy mud. Not feeling the KO2s, but have been looking at mickeys, and coppers. I need something that’s good in rain with our lovely hurricane rainy season. Snow is nbd. Obviously good on trials. Low road noise would be nice, but I’m currently driving a lifted ram1500 on nitto ridge grapplers so Im kinda used to some road noise already.

any input would be really appreciated.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. They are fantastic.

Toyo Open Country AT3’s is another option if you have seen those yet.

My two cents is that the bfg ko2 is hard to beat unless you want something more along the lines of a mud tire. It does everything better than either choice listed above and its durable, quiet and light. I just went through this same pain of choosing a lift and tires for my 2020 JLURD and ended up with the Mopar lift (have factory extended warranty) and 37 bfg's and could not be happier with how it turned out. For reference I was running 33x12.5 km3's before and my jeep is not a mall crawler.

Take a look at Falken Wildpeaks. Great all-terrain tire with deep tread, long life, quiet on road, and look good. Very good in rain and are highly rated on most tire sites as well. ?

I read reviews the KO2s weren’t the best in rain. Is this not true?

I second this. The AT3W is an amazing tire. The non LT version has silica in the compound so it hooks up really, really nicely especially in the rain. I have them on my XJ and F350 both in LT and non LT. I know the LT is preferred for off roading because of the deeper tread, but even without it on my XJ I’ve had great success. Great choice for a daily driver, weekend warrior tire.

There’s some testers that have found that, yes. The Falken Wildpeak AT3W mentioned above beat out the KO2’s.

The KO2 is a great tire, and has a classic look, no doubt. That was what I usually put on my Jeep and truck, but now I have the Falken and I wouldn’t go back to the BFG.

The Cooper SST and Nittos get consistently great reviews.

The Toyo MTs wear like steel and are amazingly quiet for such an aggressive tire. We had them on our TJ and a couple of our one-ton trucks. They’re the worst tires I’ve ever had on icy road, but they’re great in/on sandy mud and they‘re not prone to hydroplane through standing water, because the larger channels between lugs evacuate water well.

If you’re not going bigger than 35s, I also like the Duratracs. I‘ve had several sets of those, and they’re good in every environment, though some here have complained that they are prone to sidewall damage on rocky trails.

I just put 35” Nitto ridge grapplers on my diesel and am happy with them so far. Was wondering what you didn’t like about yours that you want to change?

Also keep in mind load range. E rides like garbage compared to C on our Jeep's (have run both on multiple JL's will NEVER go back to E maybe D....). You can run the pressure around ~25 lbs to help with this but then you need a tazer or other to make the tpms system happy and that messes with your warranty unless you remove it every time (pita imo to have to do every time you bring it in).

Want to change them up and try something new. Also, one of the tires was in the yellow and slightly out of round so it makes the truck shake/bounce some. They are great looking but I want to see what others are out there and if anything would be better for me.

thank you for explaining this! I kept a seeing load ranges and didn’t understand what that exactly meant!
